frolic blocks

All of my frolic mystery quilt blocks are finished. They are not all matched sets. There were 4 blocks at the end that were only close enough. Those 4 will be buried in the mix and won't be that noticeable. We will say that they are part of the "charm". They are not my best work, either. I really just want them done, and I am not resewing any points. This mystery has seemed like a chore, but I am persevering. The aqua is very light and looks washed out in the pictures.

I need to make the half, and quarter blocks, and the sashing, before I can start putting this together.

  1. what size is this one? I have heard several say they didn't like making this mystery as much - I have saved all the instructions but don't know if I will ever make it.

  2. I have one made! (There would be more but I mispieced the corner units. Grrr.)

  3. I know it can be a little frustrating when a project becomes more of a chore but maybe it's helpful to have others who haven't been in the middle of it for days/weeks to see it and throw out some quilty-love?! They are beautiful and fun and I can't wait to see the finished quilt! (I totally hear you on the "not re-sewing any points". I think we all have projects like that!)

  4. I just finished putting mine together. I made half the blocks so ended up with a lovely lap size. Two things I would say about this one. I did not like the HST pieced block and went with a solid. And I am very glad I did. I pieced all the half stars and put together the on-point center, and when all was said and done, wondered why Bonnie had chosen this way. The stars look the same whether on point or straight set. The washing’s complete the look of a secondary block, so looks different. But I would have been happier with a straight setting for this one. I’ve seen some finished tops straight set and they look really good. You might want to save yourself some extra trouble, and put them together straight set. I see with all your blocks that you have a full size. Squaring and trimming the on point was not fun.

  5. I am loving all of these blocks from frolic. I didn't make the quilt but I'm sure enjoying the pics.

  6. I would have preferred my aqua lighter than what I ended up with, but was having trouble finding a good value for my blues. I love your blocks!
