stash report September 13, 2026

During a cleaning moment, I discovered this crazy box of odds and ends. I don't remember why I started it. There are a lot of cut off hsts. It might be where I was collecting them for ditch lilies. I need 640

1 1/2 inch hsts. If I was thinking clearly, I would dump it all in a trash can....But, I still need 400 hsts for ditch lilies.

fabric added year to date for 2026:  17 yards

fabric used this week:  0 yards

fabric used year to date for 2026: 124 yards

I have used  123 yards more than I have added.

I sewed 5 days last week.

I am working on my last block for my applique project - across the wide missourri-

I am finished with the applique. I started treading through the assembly instructions. There will be 47 flying geese in my future.

There is a lot of fabric in the finishing kit, but not any labels.

I took a moment to indulge in a quick little hooking project. I saw the cutest pumpkin on a stick for a fall decoration. I have the back sewn on mr pumpkin. And his face is attached and stitched. I want a black witches hat for him.

week 2 purple scraps

I am pretty sure this is the last of making candy chains blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge.. I can start assembly of the top.

crackers and jam. paper pieced blocks are addictive. Each one is so cute. I have no idea how many I will want for a quilt. I think I will carry this into 2027.

My purple square play blocks are ready to join the pile. I have all the blocks I need to start assembly

The green flower is stitched to the hollow nine flimsy, and two more flowers  are ready. Next time, I will do the applique on the border before adding it to the quilt. I do think I will need to cut more flowers.

If I find a suitable scrap, I am making  tulip swirl blocks with them. I added a few more. They are 4 1/2 inch squares, so, I am sure I will need a gazillion of them.

scrappy two bits is finished

I have a finish of an older ufo. The stars were part of a group swap years ago. two bits was a pattern from 'quilting is more fun than housework' I used 1 1/2 , 2, and 2 1/2 inch strips. I wanted to use some of my odd low volume strips, and a little bit of color. I added it to my to do list in 2020 because I had a pile of swap blocks I wanted to use. In June, I used it as my light ufo for the rainbow scrap challenge. It was also on my 5 quilt list for 2026.

I am working on the last block which has 2 sections. Mr. Fishy is swimming happily. Beside it will be a rooster. I started looking at the pattern instructions for assembling the blocks. So far, I find them a little underwhelming.

I took a moment to indulge in a quick little hooking project. I saw the cutest pumpkin on a stick for a fall decoration. I need to hand stitch a back. I guess I still haven't decided what project to pick up and restart. This will be a fun diversion.

week 1 purple scraps

The applique for my hollow nine rainbow scrap challenge has waited a long time to proceed. Despite the fact that it has even been on the 5 quilt list for at least a year. This week, I have at least added the stems to four sides of the quilt. I finished the top for stack and whack leaves. which I thought would take both August and September. I think this older ufo will work for September.

I took some scraps to Friday sew and cut more pieces for crackers and jam. It is easier to precut the sizes than to just dig for a suitable sized scrap. I started making purple blocks.

I made a start with square play. My goal is 30 and I have 24.

I started with 2 1/2 inch purple scraps to make tulip swirl

16 are done

I am working on the last block which has 2 sections. This part is smaller than the first section. This is a pond with a fish. Beside it will be a rooster.

This is the final picture of my stars and stripes rug. It is steamed and finished. I should go back to my huge Christmas rug, but, I have another patriotic rug I want to hook. Maybe I will do both.

week 5 yellow scraps

We have a 5th week in  August for the rainbow scrap challenge. I was able to work on my monthly ufo. My stack and whack leaves. quilt is a top. I added a small orange border and a larger yellow gold  border. Luckily, I had a Saturday of open sew with my guild.

56 x 64

In other news, While I was checking the leader/ ender challenge, at Quiltville. I went crazy and bought a new pattern called crackers and jam. It is a paper pieced tiny block. I didn't realize it was paper pieced when I bought it. I can use some of the tiniest scraps. So far, I enjoy making the blocks, but, again, I don't know if I have the time, considering I have so many ufos I would like to finish.
