box kite top one monthly goal

The first 2 borders went on the quilt perfectly. The second 2 borders fought me, but, I won. The corners were most of the challenge.

I was able to finish box kite top in the nick of time for my one monthly goal for April. It was a windy day for photos. It is one on my favorites.  I started this as part of my 5 quilts projects, to finish older UFOS. I made the blocks in 2017. It is a Bonnie Hunter pattern from her book addicted to scraps.

I need to piece a back, prepare binding, and add it to the 'to be quilted closet'

My PHD report. I have met the requirements for the year already. I am anxious to see how many i will end the year

twirl mistake

After all the great advice on sewing these blocks together, which, I decided was the right way to sew them together- in halves only. I went social sewing and was so busy chatting and sewing that, I forgot -doh. I didn't realize it until they were all done and I took a picture.  oh wait geesh

What to do. take them apart... maybe, or try them with the y seam. and of course that is as far as I have gotten.

box kite inner border

Box kite center is together and I have added the inner border. I am piecing the border but the corners are a challenge to me. I need to double down on this if I am going to finish the top by the end of the month for April's one monthly goal. I have skipped most of my social quilting and that is where I get more done.

stash report April 21, 2024

I have actually bought my first fabric of the year. I made it 109 days. It was hard at first, but it has become much easier to say no.

reason 1- I have enough of everything I will need.

reason 2 - Even the sale prices are too high for recreational therapy

reason 3 - I don't have any place left to stuff it LOL

reason 4 - I am slowing down

I bought 2- 3 yard wide backings that were on sale at Missourri star.

6 yards

stash report April 21, 2024

fabric added this week: 6 yards

fabric added year to date for 2024: 17 yards

fabric used:  - 15 yards  dart finished

62 x 76 = 15 yards

fabric used year to date for 2024: 207 yards

191 yards used more than bought in 2024

I sewed 2 days last week.

I decided to finish the red work frames for my Spring sampler cross stitch project. I have almost 2 more done and 3 to go. I haven't done anything on my Christmas rug hooking lately. I think I need to dye some more wool for the background to continue. I went to a fiber fair last week, hoping to just buy another piece of navy/ dark blue and I didn't find any in that color.

yellow windmills

Yellow is the color for April and the  rainbow scrap challenge. I made 2 rows of Jo's checkers in yellow. I bet I could put at least two long rows together - I have enough different colors.

My favorite color is yellow ( most of the time) but I am not thrilled with my yellow blocks when they are photographed. I mostly like them in person. It might be time to grab some bigger pieces of yellow and whack them in to scraps for next time.

Fruit trees are budding and leafing. We have planted a new bed of strawberries and brocoli.

dart finish

This is a 2022 ufo quilt from Jordan fabrics called dart -a free pattern. I had an unused jelly roll and wanted a pattern that would use it.   It was ready for quilting in March I enjoyed the different look of this pattern and wanted to try it. It was pretty easy to do.

62 x 76 = 15 yards

strip weave progress

I was making strip weave blocks per color for the rainbow scrap challenge last year. I don't know why but, toward the end of the year, I forgot to finish the colors with this block. I took an inventory this year and decided to finish the 5 or so that I missed. I have all the blocks done and laid them out at an open sew. I have one more row to go and then, borders.

I cut the 2 1/2 inch strips x 10 1/2 inches.
