calling it done for October

I feel like I have been working on these blocks forever, but it's only been a month. I started with 2 blocks finished and now I have 56. I will set them 7 x 8. I have all of the 125 string pieced sashings pieced, trimmed, and de papered. I have 50 of 72 cornerstones paper pieced. I really made a great start on this quilt. I'd like to think I will keep going, but if not I have it on the list for 2018. So I have met my goal for One monthly Goal OCtober.

Stash report OCtober 29, 2017

Boo
I found some great stuff at the quilt show's garage sale.
This was a ziplock bag of vintage 3 inch squares more or less. I love the fabrics.
just a few of these orphan blocks
and a cute tiny purse handle

a baggie of 3/4 hexagons and papers, many of the fabrics are vintage. One of the silent auction items was a huge iris container full of 1 inch hexies already basted. Oh my. It went for nearly 100.00 dollars.
 a bag of flannel scraps
and a roll of 1/4 yards of black and white fabrics... someday...

I am still working on the Marie Webster block

But I am pretty excited that I have finished sewing all the cheddar sampler blocks which was my goal. I am still piecing string blocks for the border.

Stash report

Fabric Used this Week 1 yard
Fabric Used year to Date: 344 1/2 yards

Fabric Added this Week: 2 1/2 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 315 1/2 yards

Net Fabric for 2017: 28 yards used more than added.

More cheddar blocks

I have really concentrated on the cheddar sampler quilt, trying to get 56 blocks made by the end of the month. I have nearly 50, so it is still doable. This block took a little studying to decide how to approach it. Mostly, I am going by picture. I know that if there are 2 columns the blocks are 3 1/2, if there are 3 columns the blocks are 2 1/2 ,and if there are 4 columns the blocks are 1 1/2.
This is called mosaic

I spent one day making a block, making a pass on a customer quilt, making another block, repeat, because I wanted to get both of them done.

my owl rug

I have mr. owl on my floor frame in the living room, trying to catch a few minutes here and there to hook a little. It is the right season since He is sitting on a pumpkin. Every owl in the workshop had a different personality. Every stitch angled by a different hand created a different result.

my poppy rug and cheddar

Yesterday was rug hooking, and I have made a bit of progress on my poppy rug. I am only working on this at rug hooking guild, so it will be slow. But since the shading is a bit mind numbing for me, it helps to leave it for awhile, and when I come back to it, I can see better where to hook next.

With the end of the month approaching, I need to increase my output on cheddar sampler blocks, or I will not meet my goal. I figure I have to make at least 3 per day. They have been fun to make. I look at each one and study it, thinking it is difficult, and then I cut and sew, and it wasn't that bad.

Quilt show inspiration

What a wonderful quilt show I attended in Indianapolis. It was full of some amazing quilts, and goodies. My hubby went with, and he had a grand time in the garage sale area. He loves tools and gadgets. Don't get him started on the wonder of a needle perfectly made.  None of my pictures will do the quilts justice. This dear Jane was the opener as you walked in the display area.
  The colors were vibrant

I really liked this one. I looked all over for information, and finally realized it was the back of a quilt. -  talk about reversible.

 So interesting
Today I am off to rug hooking guild
and tonight is my quilt guild meeting I will be showing my En PRovence. I hope they like it.

organizing drawers

Oh, how I needed to do a little cleaning. Everything was in jeopardy of being lost. I couldn't find anything. But, what I find interesting is the amount of fabric fuzz I vacuumed from the drawers, which are closed. I made a donation bag for stuff I need to give to guild. And I am sure I still kept more stuff than I should.

um ... no I could die in there. If I trip and fall, I am a goner.

This cheddar block is called birds in the air

I made a few more string blocks for the cheddar sampler for string Saturday.
