I blogged before about finding an older ufo that I had restarted to assemble. Fractured squares is a free pattern from quilted twins. I was able to finish all the blocks I needed.

red nines
I have neglected my rsc quilt diffussion for a few months. I almost forgot to look at the list, again, this month, to realize that I need red 9 patches for it, too. I did a quick search through my red 2 inch strips and found several shorter pieces. I was able to make 25 or so 9 patches and I think that is the end of red for me and the rainbow scrap challenge this month.
Diffusion is a quilted twins free pattern that is simple 9 patches. I am cutting in fall colors with 2 inch strips. The last color I cut was orange in May

wrangling a top
I had a chance to assemble more of my rectangle wrangle quilt. It seems magical, as I add each row, and, see how the pattern emerges. There are a lot of seams that need matching, so, it is slower than my patience, sometimes. It is a big quilt, probably queen size, and very heavy. But I love it so far.

snails trail again
After finishing my one one monthly goal for July - rectangle wrangle blocks, I rewarded my self with fun sewing on my ongoing snail trail blocks with shirting fabric. It looks like I have been adding to this project sine 2021. I really enjoy making these blocks, and, look forward to sewing them any chance I can get. But, they are an 'extra' project and have to wait until I can reward my self with the pleasure.

assemble wrangle
I am so excited. I have all the blocks done for rectangle wrangle, and, I have started to assemble the top. I think it is going to be a fun quilt to make. Other than playing with the blocks to see how they will look together, I am just sewing twosies.
My One monthly goal for July was to have all 84 blocks finished And, I have met the goal. yipee
I have also played with making the ohio star blocks for the border. I think I have made 4. They are small, and, I need 56 of them. I hope to make a few in the mornings until I have enough.

stash report July 23, 2023
I added a bright yellow and clear blue to the stash. I don't really need 2 yards of each, but, missourri star is selling 2 yard or 3 yard cuts, and I like the colors and the price, so, I have more than I need, but, there are worse problems.

177 1/ 2 yards used more than bought
I sewed 2 days last week. But I did a little longarming
I made another hexie to add to my hexie quilt. I am finishing one side and I am trying to add the big pieces. I try to alternate hexies and rug hooking, but, it seems I focus on one or the other for long periods.
I think I will have a rug hooking finish next week, but, for now, I am still working on hexies. I have added the last 2 weeks of hexies and I have a little filled in between them.

stars in red
I have my lucky stars done in red for the rainbow scrap challenge. July is red month. I only need 2 more colors for this project and I will be ready to start the assembly process.
And just a happy coincidence, I finished Saturday soire quilt this week which happens to be a red and white quilt.

saturday soire quilt finish
This older block of the month is finally finished. Saturday soire is an older ufo from 2013. I added it to the 5 quilts list in April 2023. The 12 center blocks were already done, and, I had to make the 3 setting kits, and assemble the top. The setting kits were much more intense than I expected. I have only made two block of the months. This one does not disappoint. The fabrics are beautiful.

5 quilts July 19, 2023
last report june 23, 2023
I try to work on these 5 quilts until they are done. Their turn in the UFO closet is over, and, they need to be finished one way or another. I decided that for 2023, rather than work a little on each one at a time, I would concentrate on just one. I still use the list to plan and look ahead.
I feel like I have cheated on the 5 quilts, and, dabbled too much with new shiny projects. I played with my hsts drawer for sugar grove, I played with fractured squares with 2 1/2 inch scraps, I am playing with a quilty buddy making strip tease, and, just had to play with 9 patches for 9 patch on point. And I am in a cutting scraps mood.
1. wensleydale a jen kingwell pattern - I have all 60 blocks made and I am slowly making twosies as leader/enders
2. Block of the month UFO Saturday soire. This an older UFO from 2013. After, I had it on the frame for quilting, I decided I wasn't happy with some of the points and I would need to redo a few. I took it off and started ripping and sewing. It is on the frame, again, and I have started quilting
3. plaid kaliedescope - I have cut many, many wedges I have sorted for some block combos, but, I am not nearly as close to a cutting finish as I thought I was. I want to find more shirts for a variety.
4. rectangle wrangle quilt.-all the blocks are finished for the center. I need to make ohio stars for the border.
new # 5. girlie garden from the needs quilting list.
MY next on the longarm of my own quilts in the 'to be quilted' closet.
2. taw baby quilt is finished
3. saturday soire on the frame,
4. girlie garden- back made,
5. hand me down - back made
new #1 triple irish chain - find
new # 2 Lucille star flimsy -find
new #4 since I moved it to the 5 quilts - fair and square

sugar grove play
I have these drawers of hsts 2 1/2 inch- finish at 2 inch. Some times, I cut more than I need, or make more than I need. These drawers have been collecting for a long time. I really liked a recent Bonnie Hunter pattern called sugar grove, and, I thought that would be a great pattern to use these little treasures. I had fun digging through the hsts and making plans.

fabric added: 0 yards
158 1/ 2 yards used more than bought
I sewed 4 days last week.
I made another hexie to add to my hexie quilt. I am finishing one side and I am trying to add the big pieces. I try to alternate hexies and rug hooking, but, it seems I focus on one or the other for long periods. not much happening with this or my other projects. I finished another hexie and will see if I can fill in around it in the quilt.

fractured squares
Fractured squares is a free pattern from quilted twins. I have had the pieces cut for awhile, now. I discovered it buried in a pile of UFOS. I decided to make sure it was all there, before, I put it away where it goes. All the pieces were not there. I cut a few more from scraps on the table, but, I was curious to see what it was like to make a block. um.... they were fun and quick. This UFO is not on my 5 quilt list, but, it might have caught my attention. - Might have. Most of my 5 quilts are in the assembly/ finish stage, and I like to piece.

While cleaning other parts of the room, the ironing board became a staging area for more sorting and organizing, until, it was a disaster again.

strip tease progress
strip tease pattern from sentimental stitches is a new project with my quilting buddy. I have bits and pieces for this for awhile. I showed it to Linda and she decided to join me getting this done. We both have the pattern and have started sewing the pieces. She is making hers in blues. I am doing all colors scrappy. I am cutting and making by color. I was sure I would be bored cutting it all or sewing it all, so, I do a few in each color and I am happy. I have done blue, red, green, and, brown. I am at least half way to finishing all the pieces.

I made another hexie to add to my hexie quilt. I am finishing one side and I am trying to add the big pieces. I try to alternate hexies and rug hooking, but, it seems I focus on one or the other for long periods. It had been so long since I worked on my hexies that I had to do a search and find for my papers and some of the pieces.
