strip tease finish

The strip tease pattern from sentimental stitches was a quilt that my friend and I both made.   I started assembly in October of last year. The top was finished in December. Then, it went into the 'to be quilted' closet for a vacation. I was surprised that I drew the number to quilt it so soon for March. I love that it is a wonderful memory of sewing with my quilting buddy. And it was a great stashbuster.

teasing a top

My strip tease quilt is a top. I began it in June with a quilting buddy It was part of my 5 quilt project. You can find the strip tease pattern

80 x 95
There were 432 Flying geese and 960 2 inch squares. = which equals a gazillion. I doubted my sanity while making it, but, I do like it, now, that it is done. It deserves a vacation in the to be quilted closet, since it is the end of the year.

5 quilts for 2023 is finished. And a new year to look forward to making.

strip missing pieces

This is part of my 5 quilt project, I have been slowly building rows for my strip tease quilt. And guess who can't count? The problem with portable projects is that sometimes pieces don't make the transfers. I often find the missing pieces AFTER I finish the quilt, ususally, mixed in with something unrelated. LOL  But, I shall persevere. I can make the 14 missing flying geese and missing 4 patches, again. And, then, magically, I will be ready to assemble the quilt.

strip progress

I have made progress on my strip tease quilt. I started with my quilting buddy, linda. Her quilt is a quilt ready for quilting, and, I am still trying to move it along as part of my 5 quilts project. Instead of sewing the columns vertically, I decided to make blocks that I can make horizontal rows. I have everything sewn into these size blocks. There are nine rows of vertical geese. Next, I will start to combine into something bigger.

There are ALOT of seams to match, yikes

teasing blocks

I've started assembly for strip tease pattern. It doesn't look like much, I have worked on making twosies with the 4 patch and flying geese.

I knew I would not like making each row vertically as per instructions. I am trying: making blocks 4 x 3. I think it will help me break it into chunks, and, give me a better chance of keeping it straight.

I played a little bit with bits and pieces and making monkey wrench.

teasing some progress

All the flying geese are done for strip tease pattern. I am ready for assembly. My quilting buddy has hers ready for quilting, so, I am behind. This is a truly scrappy quilt using 2 inch strips and pieces. I made the 4 patches along with the colors of the rainbow scrap challenge this year.  It is one of my 5 quilts projects. There are 9 vertical rows of flying geese and 10 vertical rows of 4 patches.

My finger is doing much better. The longarm needle went through the middle of the nail. The nail has grown out, so, I am not as worried about catching it and ripping it.

I lost my domain name for the blog,  and everything has to be changed on my blog. ugh   It's probably a good thing. I have had it since 2013 and every year, the price increases. I am now: makingalather.blogspot.com

strip tease progress

strip tease pattern from sentimental stitches is a new project with my quilting buddy. I have bits and pieces for this for awhile. I showed it to Linda and she decided to join me getting this done. We both have the pattern and have started sewing the pieces. She is making hers in blues. I am doing all colors scrappy. I am cutting and making by color. I was sure I would be bored cutting it all or sewing it all, so, I do a few in each color and I am happy. I have done blue, red, green, and, brown. I am at least half way to finishing all the pieces.

I enjoy the motivation of sewing with someone else, and the friendly competition. It looks to be a great stashbuster.  I am thinking it might be a little smaller than I thought, so I might want to make it bigger. We will see.
