This is part of my 5 quilt project, I have been slowly building rows for my strip tease quilt. And guess who can't count? The problem with portable projects is that sometimes pieces don't make the transfers. I often find the missing pieces AFTER I finish the quilt, ususally, mixed in with something unrelated. LOL But, I shall persevere. I can make the 14 missing flying geese and missing 4 patches, again. And, then, magically, I will be ready to assemble the quilt.

I am slowly matching seams, and, getting my block pieces together in a rows for strip tease quilt. The more I do, the more I like it.
I've built all the blocks -12 long x 2 across- for my strip tease quilt
This year for the rainbow scrap challenge, I added fish school blocks in the monthly color. I collected enough for the quiltville pattern kismet in August
I needed to make string blocks for kismet, but, I thought I would retire the blocks to the ufo closet. But, I couldn't forget it, and, with the neutral month in October, I made all the string blocks for crazie mazie. And, then, while the string mess was out on the table, I started on kismet string blocks, too. I made 80+ of the 124 I need. I am so close.... I need to clean up the area..... I want to finish first.
I added the stray color of strings to the few I had already made. Now, I have all the blocks I need in the color version.

I have made progress on my strip tease quilt. I started with my quilting buddy, linda. Her quilt is a quilt ready for quilting, and, I am still trying to move it along as part of my 5 quilts project. Instead of sewing the columns vertically, I decided to make blocks that I can make horizontal rows. I have everything sewn into these size blocks. There are nine rows of vertical geese. Next, I will start to combine into something bigger.
There are ALOT of seams to match, yikes

The color of the month for the rainbow scrap challenge is neutrals. I thought it would be a good time to dig out my neutral strings, and, continue working on these blocks for quiltville pattern craizie maizie. I have more than enough strings of color, but, not many neutral. I started these string blocks a couple of years ago. I grab a bag of strings and make a few until the neutrals are gone. Then, I put them away for awhile. This month, I am intentionally finding larger strips in neutral to make more.

My uneven 9 patch quilt is a finish. And, all but 3 swap blocks have been used between the circa 1880 quilt and this second one. My quilting buddies swapped blocks in 2019. I had rows together in 2022. circa 1880 was finished in February 2023. I had many leftover blocks after circa, so I made this second quilt.

I've started assembly for strip tease pattern. It doesn't look like much, I have worked on making twosies with the 4 patch and flying geese.
I knew I would not like making each row vertically as per instructions. I am trying: making blocks 4 x 3. I think it will help me break it into chunks, and, give me a better chance of keeping it straight.
I played a little bit with bits and pieces and making monkey wrench.
I have the hollow nine blocks top finished. I did add the top and bottom sashings, but, no photo. I want to applique borders. I am not sure how big I will need for the border. I am thinking 10 inches, maybe, in white. This is my RSC project for this year. Each month, I have made 3 in each color as it was picked. I have all 25 done. I started with a scrap box of 3 1/2 inch squares. The box was labeled, so, I count this as a ufo.

All the flying geese are done for strip tease pattern. I am ready for assembly. My quilting buddy has hers ready for quilting, so, I am behind. This is a truly scrappy quilt using 2 inch strips and pieces. I made the 4 patches along with the colors of the rainbow scrap challenge this year. It is one of my 5 quilts projects. There are 9 vertical rows of flying geese and 10 vertical rows of 4 patches.
I laid the hollow nine blocks out on the floor, and, rearranged them a million times. This is where I stopped. I will finish the last row, and, then, make the sashing strips to join the rows together. I am making progress. This is my RSC project for this year. Each month, I have made 3 in each color as it was picked. I have all 25 done.

I have time with my rainbow scrap challenge sewing, this month, to start assembly for my hollow nine quilt. I decided I wanted to cut a 2 inch strip for each of the sashings. I have 27 blocks, and my goal was 25, so I am good to go. I was able to add sashings to all the blocks at my Friday sew. They are such colorful blocks. I really like them together.
Not much aqua sewing for the rainbow scrap challenge. I injured my finger over labor day ( no doctors available), and, we have spent a week without the internet. And, I may or may not have had a grumpy cat attitude. But, I have been thinking about next year.
I have 5 ideas and only 1 that I am sure I want to make. Of course, as soon as I see everyone else's projects I will be inspired. I think I want to do bonnie Hunter's sugar grove for my rsc project. As part of the 5 quilt project, the next ufo is my 3 inch churn dash blocks. I might add that to the rsc instead to build up the number of blocks. They are so cute.

I have the main part of the uneven nine patch leftovers sewn together.
( blocks from a swap and quilt here ) I am ready for borders.
I have not had the internet for three days - blah and I ran the longarm through my finger... on my anniversry. yes it hurt. sigh
I used aqua scraps for lucky star blocks.
I don't have as many aqua scraps this year. hmmm

I have lucky star blocks finished for the rainbow scrap challenge. I think that is everything for yellow and the month of August. I think the only color I still need is turquoise.

I needed to cut a bunch of 4 1/2 inch squares ( blocks from a swap and quilt here ) for the rest of the uneven 9 patches I have left. I was able to see a size of quilt that I would want with some of them. I think I want it longer, as far as I can, with what I have left of the blocks. I have been able to use up smaller pieces of cream scraps for the 4 1/2 inch alternate blocks. It feels good to clean up a stack of odd pieces.

I cut and sewed a little bit of yellow this week for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I made 9 patches for diffusion which is done in fall colors. I might add a few brown later this year, and, then, count, and recalculate what I need.

Yellow is officially my favorite color. I find it a difficult color to like in fabric. Pops of it are fun in any scrappy quilt, but, finding a consistent dependable yellow seems difficult. I will keep trying. I made hollow nine blocks and fish school blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.
