I added this beautiful fat quarter bundle to my stash with a 60% off coupon at bluprint. I thought the colors were rich, and, I always like florals. I don't have a plan for it. I just wanted to pet it.

I have another snowman asking to be hooked for my rug hooking project. I am getting very close to having all the snowman hooked. I like using slow Sunday stitching to make sure I work on this long standing project. Our rug hooking group hasn't met since March.

I finished 4 tiny wonky stars in green for the rainbow scrap challenge this month. The top left square is a study in a senior moment. As I am webbing the block together in 9 patch style, I get to the bottom right, and, I can't find the last 2 inch white square I need. I look around, knowing I cut 8 squares before I started. where did it go? I cut another one. It wasn't until I pressed the block, that I realized I had used it in the center instead of a green square. LOL

I found a new little pattern, I wanted to try for a rainbow quilt project. I used 2 inch squares for lime sherbet.

Interesting way to piece the cone. And, then, it is trimmed. I have an accuquilt die I want to try for the cone next time.

I wasn't happy with the way the sherbet fit into the cone, but realized I had not read that I needed different size flippy corners on the bottom of the sherbet.

I don't feel like I did very much rainbow sewing this month. I must have been distracted. Oh, I did finish birch trees, a rainbow project from last year.

I started making a quilt using the scrap crazy templates with an idea in my head. The blocks were not difficult, but, I did make a mistake. The fabric needs to be facing the same direction, either right side up or wrong side up, but, not folded together. Some I cut, the right way, but, then I would forget, and cut the wrong way. The hard part was sorting it out. The quilt came to a screeching halt. Every time I would see it, I would shake my head, and, go on to something else. One day, it clicked, I wanted it to look improv, so it didn't matter that some blocks were leaning one way or another. sigh.....
The top has been done and in the "to be quilted" pile for a little while. It's good to get it finished.

It is about 50 x 65 inches. I cut leftover blocks to make the border.

To the left of my sewing machine, I have a nice space, planned for holding a quilt while binding and other work on large quilts. Unfortunately, it is always a great spot for shoving other parts and pieces. I want to do a binding, so it's cleaning time. If I don't, everything will end up on the floor. I am also curious about what has taken up residence.

I found a tray of triangles. I can put those away.

There has to be scrappies - always scraps to be dealt with in any pile. I am trying to use a central bucket to collect them, but, there are renegades.

I found more circa 1880 patches from a swap partner, that came late after I had put them all in a project box for later. Time to make the effort to put these with them.

I am making Bonnie Hunter's blossom blocks when I can fit them in, but, I haven't made an official drawer for them. Time to do that.
I ordered this book for a reason, I can't remember which one I was interested in making, Looking through the book was no help, I like them all. Enough time has passed, I need to just put the book away on the bookshelf with it's friends.

Ah, look what happens if I let myself idle for a moment. I start something new. My daughter texted and said we should do a jelly roll race, which I took to mean race as in who wins. So out came my 2 1/2 inch strips and in blue. I think I am way ahead of her, but, she has a way of sneaking past me.

I like making these. It is very satisfying when they finished. It takes 1 1/2 strips of a light and a dark to make them. So far, I am using the treadle in the evening to put these together. I had seen this quilt at Mary quilts and had it on my inspiration board. Since, I wanted to make it someday, I used this idea for the race. Go team

I'm pretty excited to finish the 3rd clue for the unity mystery quilt. It took forever. And it was top of my to do list for last week.

we have been doing outdoor work, and we are feeling our age. With both hubby and I having bad backs for so long, we have let too much go. Hopefully, this summer, we can play catch up with the outdoors.

I have seen some great humor come out of the pandemic. It helps to laugh.

One of my one monthly goals for May, was to make headway on the unicorn quilt. I have not wanted to work on this at all. I don't have a pattern and have already demonstrated my lack of math skills in figuring the piecing. I measure, and measure, and calculate, and cut, what I need. And... it doesn't fit.
I have most of the blocks done I think. I am using a layer cake and a panel. I am using a background white from my stash.

I framed the panel with a lavender from my stash, and it was not the size I needed for the blocks for the sides. On to plan B for this quilt.

I have started putting some blocks together and they are as cute as I wanted. I will just have to use spacers of some kind.

I have made progress, and, I am not giving up. It is time for this to be finished.

My favorite kind of green. The poppies came with the house 30 years ago, and they bring joy every year. We used to call the purple flower sweet william, but, we found out we were wrong, but, now, I can't remember the real name. They pop up wherever they want and smell so good.

The row x row quilt doesn't call for dark green, but, there are two rows of lime green. I did the first row in January. I decided to do the second row this month to move it along.

I like to sew it with the square piece on top. I pin the center and the end, but, I don't pin the beginning, since, I get it right under the needle.

The pattern calls for green circles and white background, but when I cut them in January, I cut the white and the green on all of the die cut pieces. so it gave me the opposite for this row.

We had a small quilt store in our town a few years ago. It wasn't far from my house. I spent too much time visiting the store and the sisters that owned it. I took classes and participated in block of the months. It was sad to see them close.  One of the block of the months they offered, was a patriotic quilt. There is something magical about red, white, and blue quilts.
I am thinking this was 2013. The blocks were one a month, and, then, the setting was after the blocks were done. It was my one monthly goal to get it quilted this month, and, I am glad to see it finished.

On the back I used all the patriotic panel fabrics I still had in my older stash. I quilted with a fancy star allover pattern and used a stripe binding. I did the binding with my machine.

I have a drawer cart near my machine, and I sometimes just look down the labels of the drawers and, this time, I wanted to just make a couple of these star blocks using the bloc loc template set. It had been awhile. I don't work on these consistently. I think these are a fun diversion while I overcome what ever speed bump I have hit on my regular projects. It looks like I need to cut more of the light centers.

I started this block using a new bloc loc ruler. At the start, I cut, and cut, and cut scraps with the template. I had no idea what I was going to do with the blocks, so, I just cut.

I find I like the dark spikes the best. And, I like matching sets.

old world mystery 6

ok, yesterday was cold and rainy. Last week, it was cold and rainy every other day. I checked the forecast for this week - rain, cloudy, thunderstorms, dreary, showers. I might be getting a little tired of this. And I mean, everything this. We made a grocery run yesterday during senior hours, and there was less food than we have seen before.

We are trying to stain and seal our deck this summer, and, it may be the end of July before it will be dry enough. I did sneak a planting in between rain drops. It is too wet to till and plant the garden.

This clue 6 required 288 HSTs, so, I was not really quick with this clue. The reveal for the old world mystery quilt at Quilted Twins. was last week, and, there is some more piecing to be done before assembly. I may skip it just to see what the rest looks like in my colors.

I did great with my list last week /this week. It didn't feel like I accomplished anything but, the list says I did.

I tried to make progress on the unity mystery quilt last week. I have all the pieces cut, sewn and the stars sewn together. They are so cute, but, it seemed to take forever to make them. The reveal for old country mystery quilt came out and I really want to work on that. We have been outside more and I have been quilting on the longarm.

The flying geese were the littlest I have ever made. It was important to make sure the red was on the right and aqua on the left.

Did I mention they are very cute?

I have uncovered another bag of goodwill fabric from before isolation. According to the look of the room I am organizing, I could find many more. It's a blessing that goodwill is closed. Hopefully, I have lost the habit. that's funny. How could I pass these goodies, if given the chance. However, I do like having less fabric to organize.
