Remember last week I was so happy that I didn't bring 4 fat quarters home from goodwill? Well, this week they were half price, so.... you win some you lose some....

3 fat quarters 50 cents each

On the approved list to bring home this year, is purple, orange, and tiny print neutrals.

1 1/4, 3/4, long scrap 2.00 for 3

stash report February 20, 2022

fabric added year to date -3 yards

fabric used 22 yards -row x row finished

fabric used year to date 70 yards

67 yards used more than bought.

I bought these through missourri star quilt. I don't have any neutral colored batiks and the charm packs were so pretty.

Fabric Used this week: 27.5 yards    sent home with my daughter

Fabric Used year to Date: 129 yards

Fabric Added this week: 2 1/4 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 100 yards

net fabric: 29 yards used more than bought

I stitched at least 15 minutes every day this week. I am back to sewing in the mornings before breakfast.

Last week I showed some soap sacks that I was crocheting. I made another one on Sunday. Luckily someone sent me a link for the homeless initiative https://www.soapsacks.com/

it looks lonely by itself

I think I will talk to the rescue mission this week to see if they would even accept this and give me a starting number. I can get 2 out of every skein of cotton yarn plus a leftover piece.

I ordered a mystery fat quarter bundle from Missouri star quilt company. I liked all the fat quarters that I received. There were a few colors of the top fabric and nothing too wild.

It was fun to see what was a mystery

Fabric Used this week: 24 yards    for aunt elizas star

Fabric Used year to Date: 111 1/2 yards

net fabric: 13 3/4 yards used more than bought - I am on the positive side again

I stitched at least 15 minutes every day this week. I have a list that helps to keep me motivated

I started making these soap sacks for a homeless initiative while I was waiting during hubby's surgery. They are quick and easy and will use leftover cotton yarn. When my daughter was here she was making them and shared the pattern. She made 20 while she was here. I believe she has made over a hundred.  I don't remember all the details. I will check with her again and get more info. But, I think I will work on these today for slow Sunday stitching.

Look what I found at goodwill this week. I found a bag of scraps - be still my heart. I liked the colors and it looked like the pieces were decent size. I am taking stuff to goodwill in the BIG cleanup of summer 2021, but, then, I have to look inside......

stash report May 17, 2020

I have uncovered another bag of goodwill fabric from before isolation. According to the look of the room I am organizing, I could find many more. It's a blessing that goodwill is closed. Hopefully, I have lost the habit. that's funny. How could I pass these goodies, if given the chance. However, I do like having less fabric to organize.

This time I have finished birch trees quilt

3 cozies

stash report April 26, 2020

I have been digging through bags of fabric and scraps trying to organize a little bit. It seems I have a little more time on my hands. I discovered this bag of fabric from a trip to goodwill from a time long gone. I think it must have been just before my hubby's surgery. I don't usually find this much at one time. Someone must have been cleaning, too.

It's time to confess and add it to the numbers. But, I have finished 3 quilts since last report.

stash report Feb 2, 2020

I am thinking I will do a stash report monthly instead of weekly.
Every time I try to use a coupon at Joann fabrics, I don't find anything not on sale, but, I come home with remnants. My rule for remnants is that the fabric has to be on sale in the first place, so that it is half off the sale price for the remnant. The better the sale on the fabric, the more tempting the remnant. My favorite thread was on sale, too. I really like the coats and clarks for paper piecing. It is 50 weight and yet strong.

I try not to be tempted by flannels, but they were 2.24 a yard and then half off the remnants. I thought these would play nicely with anything I might already have in my stash. Total at Joann was 5 yards.

There was also a great day at goodwill. It seems that there has been a long dry spell. But, I found these great pieces in one trip.  The light blue piece is a flannel. I was thinking backs for the solid colors. They have non- fabric people working on the fabric. Right now, I have to leave a lot of fabric. I have been seeing 1 yard pieces marked 8.99, and Joann fabric marked for more than I could buy it at Joann. They have scrap pieces for 1.99. On the other hand, the blue solid was 3 yards for .99 cents. If I mention it to the staff, they say there are guidelines, but, if the person doesn't understand fabric.....
It will sort itself out, but I don't need any, so I pass.

Stash report

Fabric Used this month 23.75 yards
Fabric Used year to Date: 23.75 yards

Fabric Added this month: 25 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 35 yards
net fabric: 11.25 yards bought more than used

The best time for me to sit at the sewing machine is first thing in the morning, before there are any plans.

For slow sunday stitching, I finished the hooking for this little rug hooking project. But, I need to turn under the edges, and, hand stitch the back to it. I look forward to seeing all the projects at Kathy's quilts.

goodwill treasures

On a recent visit to goodwill, I discovered this small quilt. I was intrigued. It was hand pieced, but definitely not old. The background was muslin, and appeared to have been washed. I have a hard time leaving these kind of partial quilts, knowing they could be used as a donation quilt. Most of the work is done.

I also found this little bit of quilt that was started but not finished. There was a lot of work in this. It is a reminder to me that I should work at finishing before I dislike something. My time and effort is worth that. I haven't checked it out yet, but I have a sneaky suspicion that this is an old Joann block of the month, and I might have others of that series buried somewhere.

stash report March 10, 2019

I had a flannel day at goodwill. Most of these pieces are at least 5 yards. They will make great backs. I am even wondering if the bottom piece would work as the back for my double wedding ring quilt. They are washed and dried and folded.

Stash report

Fabric Used this Week 1.5 yards cozies
Fabric Used year to Date: 72.5 yards

Fabric Added this Week: 15 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 86  yards
net fabric: 13.5 yards bought more than used

I have made great progress on either the bottom or the top of my hexagon quilt. Everything to the right and below the medallions is squaring the bottom ( or top). Looks like I have a few too many far right. sigh...

I sewed more than 15 minutes every day.

stash report February 24, 2019

My hubby brought this flower to me yesterday, in the dead of winter. What a welcome surprise. He had brought one of our planters in from the deck and has it wintering over in our basement under a grow light. The marigold has made it so far.

It was time to do something with this stack of fabric from goodwill. I really like the 2 solid pieces on the left. They are grunge fabrics from before there were grunge fabrics. I am guessing the 80s.
I decided I would weigh it to get the yardage, and there was 5 pounds. There are usually 3 yards in a pound.

Stash report

Fabric Used this Week 13 yards - bargain basement
Fabric Used year to Date: 46 yards

Fabric Added this Week: 15 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 71  yards
net fabric: 25 yards bought more than used

Last week, I started creating edges on my long term hexagon quilt. I've made some progress. One night, I was really absorbed in the project, and, then, realized I had added too much. haha. I need to check the whole side and not just one section. Or not watch a really good movie.

I sewed more than 15 minutes every day.

stash report February 3, 2019

Just a few finds at the thrift store this week. The plaid on the right is a homespun, and I still have a fondness for homespun. I have a small collection that I am saving for that "special" quilt. tee hee The floral at the top is actually a cat fabric. I am allergic to cats, so that may be the only way I can turn into a crazy old cat lady.
