stash report December 5, 2021

Fabric Used this week: 0 yards

Fabric Used year to Date: 208 yards

Fabric Added this week:12 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 168 yards

net fabric: 40 yards used more than bought - still on the plus side

I stitched at least 15 minutes 5 days this week.

Once the friendsheep exchange began in my rug hooking guild, we have been passing them around pretty quickly. I did the top green plaid sheep for Betty who has asked for Christmas colors. The last I saw my rug, it had 3 done. - very cute.

I have a thing for charm squares right now. If I am not careful I may be able to wallpaper every room in my house with them.

Fabric Used this week: 0 yards

Fabric Used year to Date: 208 yards

Fabric Added this week: 6 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 156 yards

net fabric: 52 yards used more than bought - still on the plus side

I stitched at least 15 minutes 3 days this week. more cooking than sewing

I have really struggled to work on this rug hooking project. Once the friendsheep exchange began in my rug hooking guild, it was even harder. I just wanted to get started on the "new" thing. So, I asked my hubby to finish it, and, he had it done in no time. I, we, ( still negotiating) still have to turn the edges and hand stitch a back to it. I hope to get that done today for slow sunday stitching.

just a few charm packs to add to the stash. I think I feel like I have too much fabric, but, what harm could a cute little charm pack do....

I am counting this as 5 yards

I stitched at least 15 minutes 4 days this week. Now that it gets dark outside, I find it harder to go upstairs in the evening.

I hand stitched a binding again for my on the go quilt. I miss doing the binding by hand. I just feel like I don't have the time. It just looks so much better. Which one are you? hand binding or machine binding?

These are so beautiful. I like to add to my reproduction fabrics from time to time, although I don't have any projects in mind for them. And I like charm squares, even though there is an upcost to them for being cut. But, I like the variety.

I am making slow progress on my sheep chair pad. We are preparing to make a friendship rug at guild, and, there has been a lot of drawing, marking, and getting ready in our rug hooking group. I like to concentrate my time on Sundays to making some wool pull through the rug. And have a lovely little nap. Today it is cold and rainy. a perfect time to get cozy.

I came home with 2 pieces of fabric and some precut scrappy squares from the guild donation table at our quilt show over the weekend. The bottom pink was 4 yards and the green was 1 1/2 yards. I'm proud of myself for not going to the half price sale.

I stitched at least 15 minutes every day this week.

I worked a little bit at rug hooking guild on my sheep chair pad. Progress on the rug project is very slow. I really don't like working on it. I go to guild and make myself use at least 10 strips before I can go home. The monks cloth is hard to pull the wool through and it hurts my hands.

I don't remember where now, but, these were on sale. and I added them to my 'collection' of precuts. I have a weakness for 1 1/2 honeybuns. They have all the benefits of jelly rolls, but are harder to cut accurately at home. I am getting lazy with cutting the scraps. And if we downsize, these are easier to keep. However, I don't know if I will ever be able to actually unroll them. haha

I stitched at least 15 minutes every day this week. I did get a Carolina chain ready for quilting.

I worked a little bit at rug hooking guild on my sheep chair pad. I was worried about how many background strips I have so I worked a little on each side.

There was a sale. All good things happen when that is the case. I added a little to my civil war reproduction fabrics. I thought the orange one was more of a mustard than a cheddar.

I haven't done much with this rug hooking prject since the last time, but, plan to work on this for slow sunday stitching.... with my feet up and comfy.

I stitched at least 15 minutes every day this week. and made significant progress on sea swept.

I didn't go to rug hooking guild last week. I stayed home to longarm, since I have a few last minute quilters getting ready for our quilt show October 1st. They have these puppy dog eyes when they ask if I can get it done in time. What little progress I made on the sheep project was at home. I bought this chair pad kit at a quilt showI look forward to adding to this as my slow stitching project today.

I had to buy fabric to recut  the diamonds for sea swept. I bought 2 yards of kona snow from Joann fabrics. And, I nearly used all of it. Those blocks are done and I am starting the assembly of the quilt.

I ordered a mystery fat quarter bundle from Missouri star quilt company. I liked all the fat quarters that I received. There were a few colors of the top fabric and nothing too wild.

It was fun to see what was a mystery

I stitched at least 15 minutes every day this week. I have a list that helps to keep me motivated

I started making these soap sacks for a homeless initiative while I was waiting during hubby's surgery. They are quick and easy and will use leftover cotton yarn. When my daughter was here she was making them and shared the pattern. She made 20 while she was here. I believe she has made over a hundred.  I don't remember all the details. I will check with her again and get more info. But, I think I will work on these today for slow Sunday stitching.

stash report July 25, 2021

New batik charm squares arrived this week. I like the colors. I bought them "just because". We had a shop hop this week, and my daughter was here to go with me. There were 30 shops in booths in a big convention center. We both showed some restraint and came home with the same fabric too. That is always fun. Fabric prices had indeed risen.

cheerful

I bought the template to make this fabric ring. It wasn't what I thought it was. But it works like the twister templates. First you sew the charm squares together and then cut a dresden shape. I didn't get much more than a skim over the directions with all the fun we are having around here.

Look what I found at goodwill this week. I found a bag of scraps - be still my heart. I liked the colors and it looked like the pieces were decent size. I am taking stuff to goodwill in the BIG cleanup of summer 2021, but, then, I have to look inside......

happy in a bag
L-R: half yards -fat quarters- quarter yards- scraps

There was 3 yards and scraps and all very nice. I paid 3.50 for the bag.

garden party chain

I have made 81 chain blocks for my garden party quilt. I really like looking at them like this. The stacks look impressive. It takes a bit of time to make these, and eventually they will be part of a quilt.
Now, I need to trim these and start the setting triangles.

One of my unexpected finds at the Indy quilt show, was an actual rug hooking project. It was in the garage sale among some bags of scraps. I just had to bring it home. I have a plan to make hooked chair pads for my dining room chairs. I have one done, and this will be a great addition.
