peppermint candy restart

Number 2 on my 5 quilt list for 2025, is peppermint candy. I found this in quiltmaker magazine and cut it out, in 2018, while I was cleaning up Christmas fabrics. That is all the farther I got, before it landed in the ufo closet. I hope to start working on it in January, while there is snow and memories of the holidays. The plan is to finish it and not let it return to the ufo closet. Luckily, I really like red and white quilts.

stash report January 5 , 2025

I am digging through buried boxes of fabric. I am sorting, and folding, and shelving, or donating, as I go through them. I hope I find hidden corners of my fabric room again. I hope I will be doing this throughout 2025. I have decided to give these to our guild store at our quilt show this year. I like the children's quilts but don't want to spend the time, if someone would actually make them.

 stash report January 5 , 2025

fabric added this week: 0 yards

fabric added year to date for 2025: 0 yards

fabric used: 8 yards donated

fabric used year to date for 2025: 8 yards

8 yards used more than bought in 2025

I sewed 5 days last week.

With the new year, I am restarting an applique project - across the wide missourri- an older ufo quilt,     for slow Sunday stitching. Applique is really not my thing. Hubby bought this for me for Christmas, a few years ago. I think I have 4 blocks done and have started 3 or 4 times. I tried starting it again in 2024 as part of the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. It didn't work well with rsc. I am hoping to use this as a travel project, and maybe see more progress.

squared away challenge

My one monthly goal for January 2025 is to assemble my squared away quilt. I made these blocks in 2018 as part of the  rainbow scrap challenge. I thought I would start 2025 fresh with a rainbow scrap quilt. I have the blocks made and I want an on point layout. I will travel this month, and think this would make a great motel project with Florence, my featherweight. Everything I need for the quilt fits in a zip lock bag. I will still use my 5 quilt goal plan for the year. It makes sense to me and appears to work for me. Although, I might be a little less concerned with the time I take on each project. I have randomly chosen 29 ufos that I can pick and choose. Last year I finished 41. I never dreamed I could do that. So, we will see. Life can be challenging at my age.

pink is the color for January

I am still trying to finish an older ufo from the rainbow scrap challenge called tiny Tuesday. I have the green row done. Most of the blocks were designed by the academic quilter but I have been adding orphan blocks to make it a bit bigger.
