peppermint candy finish for April

I found this in quiltmaker magazine and cut it out, in 2018, while I was cleaning up Christmas fabrics. That is all the farther I got, before it landed in the ufo closet. I made the blocks while I was away for the winter this year, with my trusty featherweight. Back home again, I changed the pattern and chose an on- point layout to finish it. It was part of my 5 quilt list and my one monthly goal to finish it in April.

60 x 70 = 14 yards

progress

I've made progress on my one monthly goal for April. Peppermint candy rows are ready and some are joined. I overcut the setting triangles and will trim them down. I have to decide the borders and add it to the quilting cue.

I've worked on an older ufo called pfeffernusse as part of the rainbow scrap challenge this month. I needed to cut all the string blocks in half and join them together - 72 brown and white hsts. They all need trimming.

peppermint candy decision

I had a chance to lay out my peppermint candy blocks with an on point setting. The pattern called for sashing, but, I couldn't find any that I really liked. I was able to use a big table at the library. I liked the on point setting, and that is what I will do to finish it. I pinned the rows together and I can just join the blocks at home when I get a chance.

red peppermint blocks

We are back in Indiana, hello snow and cold. I did finish all the blocks for peppermint candy quilt. I had cut all the sashing pieces for the quilt a few years ago, but, I am not sure I like them. Now that I am home, I can check my stash and figure out what I want to do. I came home with 2 finished tops that I look forward to quilting in the near future.

peppermint candy quilt blocks

I spent some time sewing triangles for blocks for peppermint candy. When I started the blocks, I coudn't

stop until, I made all the white background pinwheels. I needed 15 and made 18. I hope I still have time to get the red ones done before going home.

peppermint candy progress

I am busy sewing pieces for peppermint candy. I am working on the whites background pinwheels. I like this kind of sewing- matching pieces and chain sewing-. I'ts easy to get in the zone and let the machine do it all. Ir's time to turn the quadrants into blocks.

tiny tuesday border

This is the border I plan to add to my tiny Tuesday quilt. Maybe, I can use up a few more 2 1/2 strips. It is simple and quick to sew, and I will have a few bonus triangles as a bonus.

tiny Tuesday rows

Before we left Indiana, I had joined a few rows for tiny Tuesday. I didn't bring it with me, but I figured out the border I want to make for it. So I have something back home that I can look forward to doing. Although, I am bringing uncompleted projects, too.

peppermint candy quilt

I made just a little start on peppermint candy quilt. I have used these pieces as leader//enders as I work on squared away and dresden plates. It's extra fun when the points of the pinwheels turn out well- haha I really haven't sewn much since we have arrivesd at our son's house. He has some wonderful Florida things to do. Such an adventure.
