old quilt rescue
I found this quilt at a flea market. It was hand pieced, but machine quilted and not finished. It needed the binding. I felt like it needed rescued. I wonder how it was previously rescued and long armed but not bound. The colors and fabrics are fun, but they don't seem that old. Were quilters hand piecing in the 60s or 70s?

ReplyDeleteNice quilt! Yes, quilters were hand piecing in the 60s and 70s, although they were machine piecing then, too. My great grandmother pieced all her quilts by hand, even though she used a sewing machine for all her other sewing. When I took a class in the early 80s, we were taught to hand piece, too.
