stash report June 3, 2018

We had a guild speaker from Indianapolis and she shared her quilting vision. Susan Sharp is a modern quilter and makes small quilts with intricate paper piecing. She has used some very big names in the quilting world to machine quilt her quilts. And that is what catches everybody's attention. And most of the questions from the guild centered around asking questions about the quilting. Sad, that her work is not the primary focus. Her blog is no hats in the house.

There were 96 pieces in the sparkle centers for this quilt.

I've started a new hooked rug that was a kit from W cushing.
The wool included is beautiful and the piece requires a variegated piece pulled as shading. It is a little overwhelming. But that will be my "stitching " for awhile.

  1. I can see why the quilting gets all the attention, but her piecing on the snake is interesting and well designed. Definitely worthy of a long look. I'll have to check out her blog. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I love how those Wedding Ring quilt pieces are connected with intricate "diamonds". I can see how the quilting would be the focus as it is quite intricate and beautiful. The piecing is amazing though. I love the colors of your rug. I will enjoy watching your progress.

  4. I was at a quilt show recently that had a vendor with rug hooking supplies...it was hard to resist but I don't need another project at the moment. Yours is looking lovely. Nice piecing and quilting on those quilts.

  5. It is sad that the quilting although beautiful has taken priority over the piecing.

  6. She's got some very unusual quilts, I really like the firefly. Very cool. Yes it's sad that there was more interest in the quilting than her piecing. Maybe because her style wasn't of interest to the group? Not everyone likes modern and/or paper piecing. Still, that's some incredible effort and lots of talent in those pieces.
