starting midnight flight

oh my! a new puzzle.  This is the project box for an older UFO from 2016 called midnight flight from the quiltville book 'more adventures with leaders and enders'.  All the pieces to build the blocks are cut and pieced including the border pieces. Which include 218 red 4 patches and 218 cheddar 4 patches, 288 hsts b&w, 288 blade pieces, and 148 border blades ( half leaning right and half leaning left). What was I thinking when I cut this out. The next step is to build 72 cheddar quadrants and 72 red quadrants. It is now part of the 5 quilt project. Let the fun begin.

I made a small start on the cheddar quadrants which include 21pieces.

stash report September 8, 2024

I've dug some more out of the bag that was gifted to me and found more blocks and a few more scraps. I am thinking, I might want to add orphan blocks to my goals next year, maybe, even for the rainbow scrap challenge.

finishing orange

I had to finish the oranges for sugar grove or I would fall way behind, it would only take 1 month to do that.

1s, 2s, 3s

I was able to complete 5 more complete sets of blocks and add a few more to complete sets. The baggies are still full waiting for another color.

I finished the last of the orange hen and chicks blocks.

And I made only one traffic jam block in orange and decided to move on to dark.

I didn't make any ripple blocks in orange.. yet

umbrien fields finish

This is a wall hanging pattern from a different box of crayons that is finished. Our guild had her as a speaker and she offered a workshop in 2017 of a beautiful quilt that I also bought, which is still not finished. But, I did finally finish the wall hanging as part of my 5 quilt project. She introduced us to the idea that we could use other fabrics combined with cotton. This wall hanging has silk, velvet, satin, wool and other shiny stuff.

25 x 25 = 4 yards

I bound it in velvet. Not a good idea - it looks good but my sewing machine thought I was crazy.

cheddar jubilee borders

Last month I added cheddar jubilee to my 5 quilt project. It has a history of hiding. This month it is my one monthly goal to finish it. On my list, it was listed as ready for quilting. But, it needed borders. I added the inner border, but, I need to piece the outer border before I can add it.

5 quilt September 2, 2024

  last report July 31, 2024

I try to work on these 5 quilts until they are done. Their turn in the UFO closet is over, and, they need to be finished one way or another. My top priority this year are the quilts in the to be quilted closet.

I was able to finish some oldies but goodies and some that hadn't lived in the to be quilted closet very long. My goal for the year was to seriously make a dent in my quilts that needed to be quilted and I have. I started with 34 and I have 6 ready, now. Of course, as I finish an older ufo it also needs to be quilted.

I finished 6 ufos in August. 29 ufos for 2024

In August,  I wanted to finish 2 quilts In the 'to be quilted closet' before I did any other UFOs. I did the two I planned for August. I finished....

1. neutral territory  from 2013 is finished

48 x 60

2. cathedral stars finished this year My one monthly goal for August

85 x 85

I worked on these older Ufos to finish them

1. garlic knots -ready for quilting

2. scrappy twirl new in March -I just can't seem to take this quilt seriously. Maybe I should put it back in the box. But, no, I will not be intimidated,  I am leaving it on my design wall and will wait patiently for inspiration.

4. halloween stripe runner from the beginning- top is ready for quilting

5. kaliedescope - mary huey workshop -ready for borders

6. cheddar jubilee -  adding borders
