My one monthly goal for May is a new project for the 5 quilt project. It is an older ufo from 2016. At the time, My daughter was visiting and we decided to each make one together. I made mine from shirt fabrics, and, she visited my stash. When I opened the box, all the blocks were made. I hope to have it finished by the end of May.

But, I have continued this after we returned home. I try to do a little every day. I want to finish this by the end of the year.... or next.
It's time for the berries.

ditch lilies
The rainbow scrap challenge color for May is green. I looked through my older ufos to see which one I would pull out to work on this month. I had gathered oranges and juniper greens together, to make a bonnie hunter pattern called ditch lilies. It is a stand alone pattern from 2022. But, I didn't do anything with it. I decided whatever I get done this month will be enough progress for now.
I started by cutting the green into 2 1/2 inch strips and sub-cutting them into squares.
It's hard to believe that little stack of fabric will become this wonderful quilt someday. And if that is the case, my stash will make 100s of quilts - if I live long enough. haha

kaleidoscope finish
I am so excited to have kaleidoscope finished. I took a guild workshop in 2016 with Mary Huey. It was a great class and I was really looking forward to finishing this quilt. It was in the UFo closet until 2024, when it returned as part of my 5 quilt project. It was lost for a minute, and I had to figure out the border. I hope I can make another one someday, as I really like the circle illusion it creates.

I made a scrappy binding with leftover fabrics from the quilt. And I still have enough for another quilt. A new quilt isn't on the horizon, but I would like to put the fabric away together for another adventure.

pfeffernusse and windmill
Red is the color for April for the rainbow scrap challenge. My choice for an older ufo that uses the color red was pfeffernusse. It is a Bonnie Hunter pattern from her book string fling. I started it with 72 string blocks in 2016. In 2017, I cut and made 288 red hourglass blocks. Here at the end of April, I have cut each string block and sewn a white hst with a brown one. They all needed trimmed.
All the red windmill blocks will join it's friends waiting for next month's color.
