week 1 - March red rainbow scrap challenge

I finished the top for my alternative blue skies string quilt. I finished the flimsy here. For the borders, I found shirts while thrifting  I made the string blocks in 2016, and I am happy to have another ufo ready to quilt.

I just couldn't let this quilt go to start the red color of the month for March. I have finished all the ufos I have brought with me, on vacation, so, I plan to continue working on the leftover yellow blocks from blue skies. Hopefully, during yellow month, I will remember to work on a red ufo.  I am sure I will have plenty of choices. I am working on a center star pattern as a baby quilt.

  1. The sunshine in the blue skies is such a great design! Is the border all from one shirt? Wow. I recently discovered Catbird Quilts on YouTube. She thrifts shirts for many of her quilts and has good tips.

  5. Hi, Blue Skies is gorgeous and I love the yellows for contrast. THere is an old saying that every quilt should have a little yellow in it.
