I try to work on these 5 quilts until they are done. Their turn in the UFO closet is over, and, they need to be finished one way or another.

I am so excited to have kaleidoscope finished. I took a guild workshop in 2016 with Mary Huey. It was a great class and I was really looking forward to finishing this quilt. It was in the UFo closet until 2024, when it returned as part of my 5 quilt project. It was lost for a minute, and I had to figure out the border. I hope I can make another one someday, as I really like the circle illusion it creates.

I made a scrappy binding with leftover fabrics from the quilt. And I still have enough for another quilt. A new quilt isn't on the horizon, but I would like to put the fabric away together for another adventure.

I finally figured out how I want to make the borders for kaleidoscope using Marti Micell's template. I needed to take apart the border pieces that were already sewn and add the top triangle before sewing the unit together. When I made a new row, I could do it right in the first place.

I have all the blocks made that I need for my kaleidoscope quilt ufo project, and hooray, I can start to sew them together. I am doing an even number - 8 x 8 so I can start with twosies. There will be 3 points to match along each side. I have used a Marti Michell template to cut, which makes the sewing pretty accurate. Although anyone can have an off day. We will see. I do think I have used a more or less equal amount of all the fabrics. I am ready to start assembly.

I have had a chance to open another older ufo project box and peek inside. I took it with me to Friday sewing. My notes are sparse, and I wasn't sure what I would find. If I want an 8x 8 layout I would need 64 blocks. There were about half of that, but, lots of partials and pieces cut. I took this class from Mary Huey as a workshop when she spoke to our quilt guild in 2016.The workshop was for making the block and not a quilt with them. That will be determined later. In the box is a collection of fabrics that I don't remember where they came from. I am guessing leftovers that someone gave me as scraps. This is now on the top 5 of my 5 quilt project.
