soul searching finish

I finished this quilt last week, but couldn't get a picture. I made it last year as part of the rainbow scrap challenge. Each month of the color, I made a block. By the end of the year, I had a quilt. I really like following along each month to use up scraps and to stay inspired. I have seen some remarkable quilters and their projects.

This quilt was great at using 2 1/2 inch strips of scraps. I tried to do a machine binding, and I am still happier with a hand sewn binding.

This quilt is part of my 2019 finish- along, my goals for this quarter are here.

rainbow finish

As my first finish along finish for the 4th quarter, I have finished last year's rainbow scrap challenge quilt.
All it needed was quilting and binding.

I think it looks great as a rainbow quilt. It was much larger than expected. 72 x 82 At the same time I worked on the block in the color of the month, I made the hsts in that color.

The backing was a large piece of stash fabric with 2 inch polka dots all over. very cute

4th quarter finish along

It's the fourth quarter for the 2019 finish along. And it is time to make a list of what I might get finished in the next three months. This is my first year joining the finish along. I think it has helped me actually finish a few extra projects. Making the list is hard, since we can list more than we finish, but not less.  So it is ok to go big.
I also have a list I want to do by month - One monthly goal at elm street quilts. I find that a little easier to keep track of what I am doing.

4th quarter
1. unicorn
2. snowflake
3. crayon
4. sweet land of liberty
5. rainbow pineapple blossom
6. sister's 9 patch
7. crazy 6
8. countryside cottage
9. 4 patch x
10. jelly mystery

There is no doubt that I will not finish everything on my list by the end of the year, but then I will have a head start for next year.

We moved our mandevella in the house for winter and it thanked us by having three blooms this morning. They are so beautiful and I look forward to a winter of red blooms.

I have a few more pictures from a recent quilt show in Lafayette.

En Provence finish

Despite throwing back surgery into the month of July, I did finish my goals for the month. August will be a different story, I am sure. Unless, watching tv can be a goal.
I finished En Provence mystery quilt to the point of hand sewing the binding before surgery, and I have slowly worked on that while in the recliner. En Provence was 2016 mystery quilt from Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville. I have on Ringo lake and good fortune to finish yet. I had already finished en provence in the quiltville colors. I did two of them, this one using civil war reproduction fabrics. Don't forget to check the mystery quilt page at the top of the blog to see all I have finished in the mystery challenge.

The sun was too bright to get the colors right. This is a better photo of  the colors.

I finished Allietare earlier in the month.

and, I am current with the rainbow projects for July. Our swap group has been very diligent in meeting our commitments each month, and I love the blocks I am receiving.

I sneak upstairs every day for a bit sewing machine time. I don't get much sewn, because, I am  still tired, but I like the distraction.
This is also part of the 2019 finish along.

wiggle finish

I have a finish for the rainbow scrap challenge this week. I found the pattern in a magazine, and it was called rainbow baby, but, I recognized the name of the designer of one of my favorite bloggers, Cynthia Brunz. She has the pattern called wiggle time, and can be found here at quilting is more fun than housework. I really like it in rainbow colors. This was my first machine only binding. I could use more practice, but it will be fine for a baby. This is my 9th finish for the year.

I started it here and here.
I did dig into the pink scrap bucket for the color of July and the rainbow scrap challenge.

I found some pieces that were too big to be scraps, so, they are folded and put away. I did some cutting, but need more time for sewing.

smith mountain morning finish

My silly hubby, He found a cut up shirt sleeve and put it on my smith mountain morning quilt and informed me He had put the sleeve on my quilt for me since I hate to do it. lol

We had a lovely day to photo the quilt outdoors.

This will be part of my finish along finishes. and my one monthly goal for June. It seems that it has taken forever to finish. I took a class with Bonnie Hunter in Lafayette Indiana in October 2013. It is included in her book scraps and shirttails 2. I had all the blocks made by 2014, and then it sat. I decided it was important to finish it this year, and I have had it on the list for goals 3 times. I can tell my workmanship has really improved with each quiltville quilt I make.

cactus patch quilt

I have a finish, and even though I haven't found a sunny day, I took photos.  It is a queen sized quilt from a Bonnie Hunter pattern in scraps and shirttails. I blogged about it here. I made it using "made " fabric as the center squares and recycled shirts as the sashings.

I did a free motion swirl pattern all over the quilt on my long arm. Even with the wind, there is always an errant thread somewhere. haha

This is one of my goals for the 2019 finish along. My goals are listed  here.
