I couldn't resist a mystery fat quarter bundle when I bought a new quilting t- shirt. It is really adorable. And I have a new missourri star t - shirt for summer.

to do: draw more circles

This seems to be a project for in between finishing a rug and what rug to do next decisions. I generally just do what comes to mind in each of the circles, but, this time, I thought it would be fun to use up leftovers strips from the project I am working currently. I might even add miniatures of the bigger pictures. I think in these circles, I will do Mr. Scarecrow rug.

Here is where I left it in 2019. Just like in quilting I have strings and crumbs, in rug hooking, I have bags of strips leftover. If I have enough of one color, I sort them by color. Otherwise, I just throw them in a ziplock bag. I use that bag in this rug. I am using any odds and ends of black in-between the circles. I am a scrappy quilter and a scrappy rug hooker.

stash report May 9, 2021

I bought these fat quarter  bundles in preparation for a new quilt I am making as part of our Friday quilt group. At least Linda and I are making a quilt called sea swept., others may join as we go along. I have chosen to make it with batiks in the colors on the pattern. I pulled some fabric from my small, but, rarely used, stash of batiks. I was worried I didn't have enough.

I stitched at least 15 minutes every day this week. I had a sew day with friends on Friday.

I changed things up a bit, as I search for a new project for rug hooking at our guild meeting. I started a random free form circle rug to use leftover bits. I drew a few more circles, and, will play in the wool while I decide. Here is where I left it in 2019

new rug hooking project

I have been very slow on rug hooking my circles rug. I started 4 circles in January, and have just finished them. I was doing this as an in between project. I had finished the Cleveland rug, and I hadn't decided what the next project would be.  I have some really great projects in the planning stages. I just couldn't decide.

It will be a big rug. Each of the bigger circles are 4 1/2 inches and I fill in with whatever size will fit. I have a long way to go, But, I have a new project and I am setting this aside until next time.

Mr snowman rug...

Most of the sister's 9 patch is together. I am still adding borders.

rug hooking inspiration

I've made very little progress on my circles rug. I seem to be uninspired.

Carmen is a steady consistent rug hooker and tends to work on one project at a time. So, she has made great progress on her beautiful rug. She has added tiny detail work that is inspiring.

Someone has bought a beautiful hand dyed piece of wool. It is very vibrant and impressive. Sometimes just the piece of beautiful wool can inspire a beautiful rug.

nope - nothing

stash report January 27, 2019

Today would be my Father's 99th birthday. I celebrated by sending all my children a package of lifesaver butter rum candy.  I wish they had known him longer. Dad really liked them, and so did I. I still can see him giving one to me as a little girl with a big smile on his face. He's been gone for 30 years, and I still miss him. My birthday is tomorrow and we always celebrated together. And Mom was great at making a big deal of it.

I have another thrift store find. I found the pieces separately, but, when I took the picture, I thought they went together pretty well.

Now that the Cleveland rug is finished, I need to start a new rug hooking project. I looked at what I had, and I looked online, and I wasn't inspired by anything, yet. The weather and the holidays have kept me from my rug hooking guild for a little while, and I have to have a hooking project to get back into the groove. I miss the ladies. I remembered an abandoned project in a bag somewhere. I was just making circles with jar lids, and using leftover strips of wool to make whatever came to mind as I was hooking. I pulled it out to work on again. Now that it is out, I am a little addicted, so, that will be my handwork today on a wintery day. I will hook something for Dad today.

I sewed more than 15 minutes every day - still working on good fortune
