string along

Moda is having a string along December 28, 2018, and I thought I would participate providing I can keep up  with good fortune mystery.
Here is the intro post
Here is where I saw it
I really enjoy string piecing on my treadle. It is in my living room, and I can watch tv with or without my husband. It doesn't make too much noise to hear the tv.

And I have no shortage of strings.

I have this string spider web that I work on from time to time. I am using a 1 1/2 inch moda jelly roll, but it gets monotonous very quickly. I am more of a scrappy girl.

And this spider web that has been around for awhile. I haven't finished assembling it.

I have even used strings as sashings.

I'm not sure which I will work on during the string along. I am sure I will find more string ufos if I poke around.

happy strings

The rainbow scrap challenge is blue for July and I have put my pineapple blossom quilt row together. It will be the second row from the bottom.

I have all the four patches finished for the first border on the center medallion for Mill Girls.

For String Saturday, I have pulled this project out to see if I can make a little progress.  The yellows are a little darker than they look to me on the monitor.  Yellow is my happy color. I am using 1 1/2 in honey bun called Charlevoux by Moda. I thought it would make it easier to have the precut strips, but I don't like that they are all the same. I used the spider web papers and template from missourri star quilt company. The template works on charm squares. I bought a couple of bella solid charm packs for the kite at the center.

I have many of them trimmed and depapered. But I have many more I need to make.

Spiderwebs

My UFOs have languished as I have been working on the En Provence mystery quilt at Quiltville.

Jo from JO's Country junction has asked about spiderweb quilts. I have a couple that I have worked on, off and on. These are not quilts I get in a hurry about making. But slowly, and magically they come together.
I completely pieced this one on my 1920 Singer Red eye treadle. It is in rows waiting to become a top. It is hard to make an orange spiderweb quilt without a few spiders ( get it) and bats.

I was inspired by the colors in this antique one.

My favorite color is yellow and I had a honey bun, so I started this one.
And when Bonnie hunter started this one, her photo

she made several blocks with an olive green that I liked. These are hers.. her photo
She changed her mind and went to yellow centers, but I had already started cutting green.

So I have a bunch started with olive green and scrappy strings.
This one is on my inspiration board. I might have to do white as well.

As part of preparing for Christmas, I add several gratefuls to my gratitude journal. I thought I would share one.
