full stop finish

I want to thank Angela at so scrappy for this fun quilt that is now out of the ufo closet and finished. I was able to quilt and bind it this week. Angela designed the blocks each month to coincide with the color of the month. I added words to make it a momento for me. Sew, I guess I don't have to make a label for it. All of the blocks were made using scraps from my scrap bins.

65 x 78 = 15 yards

This is my 27th UFO finish this year.

full stop for quilting

I am pretty excited to add full stop quilt from 2021 rainbow scrap challenge to my longarm for quilting. I added the quilt to my 5 quilts in 2022 to assemble the blocks and then rows. I am not sure how it has gone this long being passed over in the quilt cue. But, I think it is time. full stop were quilt blocks that Angela designed.

5 quilts April 4, 2022

My 5 quilts progress report. My last report March 21

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - pink- I cut and sewed all the yellow hunter's star blocks for March.

and I started with pink for April with candy blocks

2. I used a random number generator and I opened the box for an older ufo called 'every which way' by gigis thimble that I started in 2016. It looks like the top is made and just needs borders. There is enough fabric left to make them. I really don't remember where or how I started this one. But, it is cute.

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter -  I have started block B - I am sewing the center part and will add the framework when the centers are done. There are a lot of the little hourglass units. I cut the neutral squares, and garnet squares I will need.

4. Love jelly roll This is the 4th jelly roll used for the year. I am aiming for 12. I don't really like making this quilt. So, I have set the goal to add a round each time I work on it. It is taking a little longer than I had hoped.

5. DSP9-  I had a box of 9 patches that I had set aside to make disappearing 9 patches. After I cut them, I was thinking I would just put them in an orphan box, but I didn't. I started sewing them with all the same orientation into rows. And I liked them better. 3 rows of 3 so far.

MY  next on the longarm of my own quilts in the 'to be quilted' closet. I am not getting ahead on this. I now have 43 in my pile.

1. shine -on the frame - quilted  - trimmed -binding done - finished here - hooray

2. bricks in the barnyard -found - back- binding

4. EPP green

5 quilts march 21, 2022

My 5 quilts progress report. my last 5 quilts report march 7, 2022

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - yellow/gold - I am catching up hunters star blocks in red and aqua and I am just about done, maybe 5 left to do.

This quilt is officially retired to the "to be quilted" closet
I used a random number generator and I will be opening the box for an older ufo called every which way by gigis thimble

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter -  all rhodo clue 6 is done. I have some cutting to do with clue 7 before I can begin to make block B

4.. basket blocks from 2014-  This quilt is officially sent to the "to be quilted" closet, too

I used a random number generator for the next UFO to fill this spot- I had a box  of 9 patches that I had set aside to make disappearing 9 patches. I thought they were all the same size, but, they aren't even close. Most of these are scraps from the 90s and were given to me in a scrap bag.

there are 21 with  4 1/2 in squares

5 or 6 with 3 inch and 5 inch squares

I took these to Friday sew and just cut them. I tried rearranging them, and I just don't like them, yet

5. use a jelly roll - Love jelly roll This is the 4th jelly roll used for the year. I am aiming for 12. I don't like making this 'simple' jelly roll quilt. It is the same process as adding borders only 4 each round. I like the look of it, but, not the slow construction. After Friday group sew I was ready to pitch it, but, I am setting a goal to just add one round at a time. It will take longer, but, I won't be bored with it.

5. Next on my UFO list is an older UFO from the 90s. I bought vintage blocks and was hand quilting them. It is time to unbox them and make decisions. I am not sure I can find everything to keep hand quilting them, so we will decide.

6. wonderland holiday runner - Christmas - I don't remember this so I will have to find the box and make more decisions

MY  next on the longarm of my own quilts in the 'to be quilted' closet. I am not getting ahead on this. I now have 43 in my pile. I keep finishing UFOs on the 5 quilt list and then there are more in the 'to be quilted' closet....

1.. Christmas sparkle- on the frame - quilted  - trimmed- binding done - finished hooray

2. shine -on the frame - quilted  - trimmed

customer quilt time pause

3. bricks in the barnyard -found

4. tiger, tiger

5. EPP green

5 quilts march 7, 2022

  My 5 quilts progress report.

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - yellow/gold  I am working on my hole in the barn blocks. I didn't think I was going to add these this year, but, I did. SO, I am catching up red from January, and aqua from February.

I used adding machine tape to see if I like it. Yes, I did, but it was a pain in the neck, so, I thought I could eyeball 2 1/2 inches and just started sewing long strips. Much better.

2. full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.- I joined a few rows at open sew with my Friday group.

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter -  I have half of the first block sewn. I am having trouble matching points - so discouraging. I am not sure how, or what I did wrong that the squares are not matching the angle point on most of them.

4. basket blocks from 2014-  I used a random number generator for the next UFO to fill this spot- This quilt was a buck a block from a store in Indy in 2014. I loved the colors and fabrics so much so that I bought the finishing kit, too. So, the monthly blocks were just the baskets. I am not sure why it has been a Ufo for so long, but, it needs finishing. I need to trim the setting triangles and add borders. It is smaller than I usually make, so it will be quicker to finish.

5. use a jelly roll - Love jelly roll This is the 4th jelly roll used for the year.

MY  next on the longarm of my own quilts in the 'to be quilted' closet

1.. Christmas sparkle- on the frame - quilted

2. shine

3. bricks in the barnyard

4. tiger, tiger

5. EPP green - I hope I can find it

making rows

I worked on full stop at the guild open sew last Saturday. great fun. It was my chance to lay it out and decide how I wanted to organize the rows.

last words

I started adding background and cutting each row to 65 inches. I have a cutting mat I set beside me at my sewing machine. But, it was inadequate for the long rows. We only had one big cutting mat for all of us to share, so, there was some jockeying around for the spot. I kept busy, with what I could do, keeping my eye on the table.

I am really enjoying this quilt.

5 quilts february 28, 2022

My 5 quilts progress report. I tried to not do this EVERY week (boring) but, it has worked to keep me focused. And, I miss it. I find I have been a little haphazard without it. I thought I would do it every month, but, I think I need to go back to every week to help me.

1.rainbow scrap challenge - color aqua/teal - boho heart. I worked on the blue/aqua blocks I needed for boho heart.

2.
full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.- I made the last row that I am adding letters to the punctuation. I didn't have a place large enough to show the whole row. Now I can lay it out at a sewing day and start evening the rows.

left
right

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter -   My big stumbling block was deciding if I wanted to just cut the bonus blocks from the last units, or, sew them as hsts before cutting. It took a little time to decide. But, I couldn't move on until
I did. I decided to sew and then, cut.

I made one block and realized I have to match the squares to the angled pieces - argh

4.I am trying to find the 5th ufo quilt to add to the list. I used a random number generator, and, it was my maypole blocks.  I used it again and it was my 5 star blocks - - Someone gave these to me a long time ago. So, they have been a ufo for a long time. I thought I would make additional blocks since there is a yard of the background fabric, and, make a small donation quilt, but, no. I think I will just put them in the orphan block box and deal with them when I want to make an orphan block quilt. We will try choosing again.

5. use a jelly roll - The top is finished and I am making the back and binding and adding it to the "to be quilted" pile.

MY  next on the longarm of my own quilts in the 'to be quilted' closet

1. row rainbow rsc -finished

2. gray baby flannel -finished

3. Pineapple blossom - hunter -need to find it -I found it -I am not going to quilt it yet, so I am moving it to the bottom of the list, if ever

5 quilts february 7 2022

Covid has come to visit and I am not very perky. I think we are holding our own, but who knows.

My 5 quilts progress report.

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - color aqua/teal. I have candy made from crumbs and strings.

2. full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.- I have 2 rows finished

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter -  I haven't done anything on this project. I think I have some cutting I need to do for clue 6. I haven't looked.

4..  too many circles - the top is finished. I am looking for a back and binding. I used the random number generator and I drew an older UFO using moda maypole. I think I have decided to not finish this UFO. It isn't my thing, and, I have so many other projects I would rather do. I am only going to live so long. haha

5. use a jelly roll -  dart a free pattern. It is ready to put together with sashing strips, but I have done
 nothing

5 quilts January 24 2022

  My 5 quilts progress report.

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - color red - blossom time is a quiltville pattern from quiltmaker magazine. I think Bonnie Hunter made an actual pattern that can be purchased. I made 12 for the red month.

2. full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.- I have started to finish each row to the size of the quilt I want. Right now, I am aiming for 69 wide.

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter -  I am working on clue 5, adding the hst to the parts from a previous clue.

oops

4..  too many circles -I had only so many of the 1/4 circles cut and made in the project box from 2012 so I had to "do the math" but I think it came out alright. I still want to work on the corners a bit.

5. use a jelly roll -  dart a free pattern. The first part of the sewing is done. I was able to lay the strips out at the library for Friday group and start on adding different sized pieces to the left or the right following the chart.

MY  next on the longarm of my own quilts in the 'to be quilted' closet

end of the rainbow rsc - on the frame - no change- started quilting -quilted - needs binding - done

5 quilts Jan 17 2022

 My 5 quilts progress report.

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - color red -candy is finished. I am sorting through the red strips and cutting for the next rsc project. These are the 2 1/2 inch strips. I want to clean up the bag and set a minimum of 12 inches in length to keep in the bag. Anything smaller will be sewn into 4 patches.

less than 12 inches

I cut for Hunters star blocks using a new die I bought during the Holiday sales.

2. full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.- I have the bracket row all together and the width I will use for the rest of the rows. I used the word full in this row.

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter - I finished clue 4 and, now, I am working on clue 5. I have the triangles cut. I started sewing them to pieces we have already made, but, I forgot about the matching fabrics, so I will be unpicking a few and starting the sewing again.

4..  too many circles - I was able to lay it out with the pieces for the outer border at Friday group. I don't have a pattern for what I want to do with the border so it is taking a bit of fussing and mumbling to myself.

5. use a jelly roll -  dart a free pattern. I have it all cut and ready to sew. I am using an old moda jelly roll called bistro

MY  next on the longarm of my own quilts in the 'to be quilted' closet

hourglass leader ender challenge - hunter - on the frame - quilted - needs binding - trimmed -preparing to bind - done!

My 5 quilts progress report.

2. full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.- I made the letters for the purple row. I really like purple. That's it for letters. I hope to start making the rows now.

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter - After a count of finished hourglass blocks for the mystery, I was 60 short.

Back to cutting and piecing. Surely, it won't take as long to finish these as it did to get this far.

4..  too many circles - inner border is finished. I started sewing the 1/4 circles into twosies for the outside border.

5. use a jelly roll - I want to make dart. Time to cut. not even started
