scrappy pinwheels finished

My Friday finish this week is scrappy pinwheels. I really enjoyed making this pattern and quilt. I started it in 2018 in an effort to use 2 1/2 inch scraps. It would be great for a jelly roll. One jelly roll would make it bigger than this one. I liked it so much, I recently cut another one in upcycled shirt fabrics.

60 x 68 = 14 yards

I quilted an overall paisley and used the backing for binding

wool lady table runner

The next Ufo on my 5 quilt list to do, is a table runner. I bought the kit at a quilt show in Ohio a hundred years ago.

I bought the kit from wooly lady in 2013. Most of the applique was done when I opened the box. There is still a little floss work to be done. The colors are gorgeous, the pattern was really nice. I spent a small fortune on the kit, I don't know why I didn't finish it.

I decided I will just pillow case the gorgeous backing to the front, and call it a table runner. I am not going to quilt it. That is probably the reason it has sat unfinished for so long.

I went to the website on the back of the pattern and it is no longer there. I googled it, and found there might be something on facebook.

April one monthly goal

I opened an older ufo called hand me down  last month and have been making flying geese and star blocks. I am nearly done with the blocks. Each block is so different and fun to see, when I finish it. All of them are made from recycled shirt fabrics. I want to make finishing this as my one monthly goal for April. I cut this quilt in 2018, and made the hourglass blocks, before, adding it to the ufo closet.

ugly library carpet

April tends to get away from me, so I will need to stick to it. We have birthdays and Spring( I hope) and we love our garden. In addition, I need to cut back on my social sewing. And, that is where I get a lot done on my projects.

stash report April 2, 2023

Spring has brought out my fabric nesting instincts. And buying on line is so easy...

stash report April 2, 2023

fabric added: 11 yards

fabric added year to date: 51 yards

fabric used: 14 yards   kristals finished

59 1/ 2 yards used more than bought

I sewed 4 days last week.

I have started another batch of wool dyeing. I am having trouble matching the color of the background. sigh... Same recipe, same dyes, I am not sure what is going on with it. I am sensing that I need to spread the color I have been using through out the rug. I can then, blend any new variations.

This is a monster to take to rug hooking guild. I have a smaller frame that is portable, so the bulk of the rug sits on the table behind.

We spent a minute in our basement during the tornado outbreak. There were 4 in our county, but, we are fine and no damage. Although we have not gone out back to our little bit of woods. What I saw out of the windows did not look like it was going to be a problem. My heart goes out to those with losses.

more green

I don't know the color for April, so, I am showing the last of my March green blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge.

I made Lucky star in green.

I lost my fish school blocks last month. I told all my scraps, that, if, they did not rat out the delinquent fish hsts, that, I would burn all of my scraps and start buying new fabric. There was a snitch, and, now, they are back in custody, and the scraps are once again safe.

It is the end of the month and I checked my progress for the PHD and will link with that group. I finished 2 UFOs in March, Which is 6 for the year, so far.
