April finish along

A sunshiney day and, a sunshine quilt that is finished. I took advantage of sunshine to take photos of another quiltville mystery quilt finished. This grand illusion is the second one I have done. The first one was in the recommended colors, and, this one, I used Denise Schmidt fabrics.

This is my 14th finished mystery quilt with 4 more to go.  There are only 16 mystery quilts but, I did 2 of 2 different mysteries. To see them go here.

This is #3 on my list for the 2019 finish along. I almost had it done in the 1st quarter, but not quite.

1. cactus patch

good fortune goal finish

I have finished the top of my good fortune mystery quilt. I liked adding a border that was string pieced. It meant there were no seams to match.

March is coming to an end and I have finished all my projects for my one monthly goal.  I added borders, quilted and bound the Denise Schmidt version of Grand Illusion, a quiltville mystery quilt that I am calling sunshine skies.

I quilted and bound Cactus patch which was a quilt that I made some time ago, and had not finished it. It is also a quiltville quilt from scraps and shirttails book.
This is Bonnie Hunter's quilt on her site.

I made some string pieces for another quiltville quilt called Sand castles. This is a new project for the year, so I can take the whole year. I have the papers ready, and have gathered the taupe fabrics, I can use. This was part of string frenzy book.

I made my 30 blocks for the swap I am participating in, using our version of circa 1880 as the inspiration.
Here are some I made..

And here are some I have received

Stash report March 24, 2019

It's a miracle, but, there was no new fabric making a home here with me last week. I did buy some shirts at the rescue mission for .25 each. But, I walked away from thrift store fabric and giveaways and other peoples's scraps....at least last week. I make no promises.

I am still sorting through the green scraps, and used the shortish strips to make 4 patches in 2 1/2 inch size. I used the 2 1/2 inch die to subcut into twosies.

And then there were more 4 patches for the irish chain quilt. Right now, this is my favorite part of the green color family.

Stash report

Fabric Used this Week 0 yard
Fabric Used year to Date: 73.5 yards

Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 95.5 yards
net fabric: 22 yards bought more than used

I have a binding to hand sew today. I love that part and look forward to feet up and working on this.

I sewed more than 15 minutes every day. The best time for me is first thing in the morning, before I feel obligated to do anything else.

grand illusion 2

In my project box for my second version of Grand Illusion mystery quilt, I couldn't find the inner border or the fabric that it was supposed to be. So it could be anything I wanted. It was supposed to be the turquoise in the 4 patch. I tried yellow, blue, white, navy, green in different variations. But, I liked turquoise the best, and I had a different fabric that is a pretty good match.

I like the way it frames the quilt and helps tone down a pretty busy quilt. I like the quilt better the farther I am away from it. haha

I am one step closer to finishing this.

march one monthly goal

We had a little hiccup at our house. We made an emergency room visit for my hubby with a wild heartbeat. He spent the night in the hospital and I haven't really felt normal. He's done this before and it went fine, but there is always the worry.

For March one monthly goal, I would like to add the borders, quilt and bind the Denise Schmidt version of Grand Illusion, a quiltville mystery quilt. I have the grand illusion done in the colors that Bonnie gave us, but, I made 2 at the same time. I doubt that I will ever do that again. But, It's good thing I have one finished, because I can't find the directions and will have to use the quilt to see how to finish it.

Every month for a goal, I will include what I need for my circa 1880 swap. I will need to make 30 blocks.

Cactus patch is a quilt that I made some time ago, and have not quilted or bound. I want to get that done this month too. It is also a quiltville quilt from scraps and shirttails book.
This is Bonnie Hunter's quilt on her site.

I want to string piece the blocks for another quiltville  quilt called Sand castles. This is a new project for the year, so I can take the whole year. I have the papers ready, and have gathered the taupe fabrics, I can use. I had started gathering the fabrics when Bonnie shared parts of her quilt on her blog before it was part of string frenzy book. I knew I wouldn't get to it any sooner than I would get the book.

Today should be the start of a new color for rainbow scrap challenge. I finished some of the tiny Tuesday blocks in yellow. I have 2 more to do to be done with yellow and looking forward to the new color.

ufo 2019 edition

Patchwork times has an ufo challenge for 2019. I have enjoyed using some sort of ufo motivation for my quilting these last couple of years. She suggested 12 of them. I am sure my One monthly goals will also use help finish these projects along.

A couple of years ago, my daughter and 3 other quilty friends exchanged houses every month. It had to be before I was blogging since I can't find any reference to them here on the blog. They were to finish at 4 inches but could be anything and any fabric. It will be fun to get them out and look at them.

2015 Allietare! - needs borders and so on
2013 celtic solstice just needs quilted

on ringo lake is in blocks and I have a corner pieced. Just 2 weeks ago, I moved my sewing cabinet and discovered sashing pieces behind it. I would have been beside myself, if I had not found these before working on it again. Even now, I worry that I will forget to get them back to the project box.

I did a second version of Grand illusion using Denise Schmidt  fabrics. I have it assembled minus the borders.
