scrappy pinwheels is a top

I am surprised that this quilt is larger than expected. I thought it would be a small lap quilt, but, it is a good size lap quilt. Scrappy pinwheels is a top. I really like the pattern and revisiting older scraps. Hopefully, it will get a turn on the long arm soon.

I started it in 2018 cutting the pieces and sewing some flippy corners. It went into the ufo closet for a vacation.

I made it a goal here in February as part of the 5 quilts project. It has been a delight to work with it.

My version of the pattern here

cut a quilt kit here from shirt fabric.  I would be glad to sell the cut kit for 30.00 plus shipping.

twisted braid finish

I have a finish. Twisted braid is ready to gift. I drew this ufo number for my 5 quilts earlier this year, just about the time, I learned my new Grandbaby will be a boy.  perfect timing

64 x 64 = 14 yards

I used a lovely, sheet for the back and free motion bubbles for the quilting.

twisted braid top

I auditioned neutral, red, and light blue for the sashing. But, I decided to use dark blue. The top is ready for quilting as soon as there is time on the longarm.

I found this pattern in this book. I have had it for awhile. I cut and put the pattern together as a kit in 2018. I drew it as a random number for part of my 5 quilts early this year. I took it as a portable project to  piece and when all the other quilts on the list were waiting to be quilted, I finished it here at home.
I really like the purse quilt on the cover, and, if, I ever get to a new project, that might be it.

now, it waits to be quilted.

one monthly goal finish - shine

I have finished my March one monthly goal at elm street quilts by completing my Shine quilt. It is a free pattern at moda bakeshop. I started it as part of the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy in January 2020. I made one or two different color blocks each month for the year. It was a top in November. Now it is quilted and bound.

66 x 82 = 12 yards

I used leftover strips for the binding and machine sewed it on the front

This was a great block and easy enough to do, and, it uses a jelly roll or 2 1/2 inch strips.

WIP progress

I am working on clue 6 of rhododendron trail mystery quilt from quiltville. I cut the yellow pieces from my 2 1/2 inch strip bin to size, but, I just used WOF, or close to that, of neutrals. They will naturally be cut to the right size when I subcut. That saved me one step.

I cut the red pieces too.

Another early morning and I might be ready to make a block.

I started sewing the  dart -a free pattern jelly roll quilt into rows at my Tuesday group. All the strips start the same and then, a different size piece is added to the right and the left to make it wave. There is a chart to follow, but, I can sure get turned around. fingers crossed

I used a skinny strip roll for the sashing

5 quilts january, 3, 2022

 My 5 quilts progress report.

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - color red -candy - I cut the background pieces for candy quilt

2. full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.- nothing new done

3. rhododendren mystery - hunter -

I am still working my way through clue 4. Lots of cutting needed and chain piecing took forever.

I discovered that if I chain piece my qsts like this through the machine

They will be webbed together for an easy sew to get the hour glass. I missed about 1 in 10 - turning them the wrong way, but, an easy fix.

We have had the crud over Christmas but, a negative covid test. It has certainly cramped my style. I haven't gotten much done at all.

4..  too many circles - Nothing new here at all

5. use a jelly roll - I want to make dart. Time to cut.

MY  next on the longarm of my own quilts in the 'to be quilted' closet
