domino ufo projects

Have you noticed there is not enough time to do all you want to do? I have a problem with liking everything I see. I finished all 8 cutting garden blocks in orange for the rainbow scrap challenge. I already have a long list of rainbow projects for next year, thanks to all the inspiration I found visiting other rainbow scrappers.

I have a batch of nearly finished projects. Once the first domino falls they will all tumble down. That is certainly a fun part of quilting or anything.

I added a few remnants this week from Joann.

I gave away a large bag of odds and ends to a friend who loves scraps as much as I do. That was fun. But I am really grateful for a new pack of rotary blades. I have been sawing my fabric lately. I know I should change blades more often, but I only remember when I am away from home, or knee deep in a project and don't want to get off track.

There are 76 pieces in this block! I am so glad that we piece this by type of block ahead of time. And all I have to do is put the blocks together now. For some reason, I can't find how big this quilt will be finished, and I am worried it won't be big enough for our bed. Which would mean I have to make more parts and pieces. What a fun design! And all just common traditional blocks.

I have finished the center of Aunt Mary's Irish chain quilt and will move on to borders

All the applique pieces are ready for the Spirit of Christmas quilt.

all the quilting is done on the moose quilt and I am ready for hand sewing the binding.

It has been a week of progress on several projects but nothing I can even check off a list. I feel so good at the end of the day, but want to cross things off my list but can't yet. sigh...

The spirit of Christmas quilt

I don't think I have shown the pattern for the Spirit of Christmas. I have talked about it here.

I finally decided how I wanted to do the applique. Linda friend did hers raw edge and machine stitched. I wasn't sure. But I decided to hand turn, hand stitch the flowers.

The pattern didn't fit on the square that was cut from the instructions. I took the pattern to the library and had it reduced by 20%.

It was quick and easy to turn the edges under with spray starch, a brush, and an iron. The pattern called for 6 leaves but I didn't think it would look that much better, so I opted for 3 leaves, except on the first one, where I had it completely sewn down without that 3rd leaf. It adds interest right? I am starting to enjoy applique, at least the hand sewing part. I feel a little awkward with the edge turning yet.

out of balance

I have had a big problem lately with balance. I can be just fine, and then, I feel like a prankster tries to push me over and topple me. So far I haven't fallen, and I am not dizzy. I can stand on one leg long enough, I just can't walk a straight line for very long. I have an unhealed hole in my eardrum, that the doctor thought might be the problem, so I visited with an ear specialist this week. He has decided that it is not my ear. He is referring me to a balance center. I had no idea there was such a thing. This could be interesting....

I did get another quilt of mine on the frame, but garden and doctors and house painting has left me no time to actually quilt.

We had our 43rd wedding anniversary and Jeff took the night off work. We are just crazy romantics, so we canned tomatoes and went out to eat in Indianapolis. If you had told me 43 years ago that we would think a great way to celebrate our anniversary was this way, I would not have believed you. But, it was just about too much fun for these old folks.

I am still working on glitter blocks

and I have the square in a square blocks done for the Spirit of Christmas quilt.
