Orange you glad it is orange

September's rainbow scrap challenge color is orange. Hooray. I can use the color as an excuse to finish some long over due projects.
I finished orange noses on my towel for a Christmas present.

I need an orange back on a hooked pillow with an orange piped edge.

I can clean out my scrap drawer.

And orange will play an important part in a donation quilt

For string Saturday, I am still trimming string blocks for dawn's early light, a Bonnie Hunter Quiltville pattern.

snow days in August

I need 4 -6 inch blocks for my snow days quilt. I am trying to keep them very low contrast with blues and browns and lots of creamy colors.
The 6 inch size uses flying geese that finish at 1 x 2. So cute....

1 1/2 inch squares for the sew and flip corners.

Now, I will need the same block in 9 inches.

I am the official gopher for the house painting project, My job is to sit and wait for the master painter to need something and get it for him. It saves him wear and tear of getting up and down on the ladder. Considering he fell off yesterday, I need to step up my game. He wasn't hurt, but scared us to death. While I am sitting, I have been trimming my string blocks for Dawns early light quilt. Sure, I could be weeding the flower beds, but then he would have to come save me when I can't get back up. And, besides, God is going to weed them come November. But who else is going to trim these blocks? It is really such lovely weather...  perfect for a little cream color for the rainbow scrap challenge for August.

light, low volume

I have added 6 churn dash blocks to this month's project - snow days

I have 2 -12 inch blocks and 6 - 9 inch blocks finished. I am trying to stay very light in the overall effect. Light is perfect for this month's rainbow scrap challenge.

I am also working on neutral string blocks for the future Bonnie Hunter pattern dawn's early light.
I have all the bigger blocks done which is just an estimate. and I am working on the little 3 1/2 inch squares, which are so cute.

Joann fabrics had a 70% off coupon on batting by the yard. I bought a 15 yard roll of my favorite Hobbs 80/20 . Such a deal.
While I was there, I had a high school classmate say hi. She started talking about other classmates that still live here. I never see anybody from school. I must be living under a rock. As she tossed out names, I could remember them, but I wouldn't be able to list anyone I knew in school. That was many years ago, wow... many years.

For a little more color... more box kite blocks

strings and beans

it was green bean time.

 and string Saturday
I am working on the string blocks for Bonnie Hunter Dawn' early light. It takes 2 different sizes. I am working on the biggest blocks while I still have longer strips. I don't have any plans to make the quilt anytime soon, but I can get the string blocks done. I don't have many dedicated neutral strings, although, there are still some mixed in with all the others. I will just have to sort.

Sometimes, I worry I am adding too much color, but, then, I look at Bonnie's and see color there as well.

On the home front, we still haven't found the right house color. I have my Dad's letters in piles of years strewn all over the dining room. And have had computer problems trying to install scanner software. And my husband's plant is closing in November, and something will have to happen by then.I have hauled boxes to goodwill, for sure, it is time to downsize.

Yesterday at church, we had a full time RVer visit, that sounded good, maybe it will be time to hit the road. We will need a semi for the fabric and longarm. Hey is that cheaper than a house?
I quilt to not worry and I am so grateful I can.
