16 patch

I wanted make a few 16 patch blocks from my 2 1/2 inch squares. I made several colors last year as part of the color block challenge with Debbie Brown. But, I didn't make black. I took my squares with me to our guild's open sew Saturday and made a few blocks. When I was done I only had a a few left in the box, but, I have a whole drawer that hasn't been sorted yet. This year's quiltville leader/ ender challenge uses 2 1/2 in squares. Hopefully, that will reduce the drawerful.

ugh -the bottom block will have to change

aqua question mark

It's going to be a beautiful fall day here- Blue sky and sunshine but 32 degrees. We have no real commitments and can stay home and do some work. We had three doctor appointments last week -all is well.

I worked on the full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

I procrastinated the question mark block since the color was aqua. I finally have them made and ready to go. They weren't as difficult as I was afraid they would be for me. I think I am missing the dots, yet.

I sewed the orange 16 patches  blocks for the Debby Brown color blocks quilt along

still orange

Somehow this week, I sewed a few orange color blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I have strip sets to sew a couple more blocks. I am just a little behind.

I am thinking about rsc 2022. My plan for 2021 was to work on ufos in the color of the month for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. It worked great the first part of the year, but, then, I became bogged down. However, it was a great catalyst to dig out ufos and make decisions to move them forward. But, I really want to keep the the rsc rainbowy ( I'm sure that is a word) next year.

I want to do a stringy project and I thought of razzle dazzle from bonnie hunter. How about you? has fall started you thinking about 2022?

red color blocks

This week, I worked on the16 patch blocks for the Debby Brown color blocks quilt alongI found this free quilt along with Debby Brown  from Alycia at quilty girl

I didn't have any red 2 1/2 inch squares already cut. So I strip sewed these using shorter pieces. I really have diminished my stash of 2 1/2 inch squares over the last 3 years with the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I used to have 7 velveeta boxes stuffed full. Now, I have 3 partially full.

I've used them in scraptastic stars, scrappy irish chain, shine, and cutting garden,

Right now, I am just accumulating the blocks. Once I have all the colors from the rsc, I will start planning the quilts.

color blocks

The last Saturday in April and the color blue for rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. That means crunch time. I didn't have that many 2 1/2 inch squares in light blue for the color blocks. I "gasp" had to cut a few squares for variety.

I still had other blues to play at making blocks.

I have the green brackets finished for the full stop quilt that Angela is doing. I still need to work on the asterix for blue. I made 5 green ones. They were easy enough if I want more later.

blocks of green

I used most of my green 2 1/2 inch squares to make 16 patch blocks for the Debby Brown color blocks quilt along for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I think I have 3 left. It makes me nervous, and, so, I have to resist the urge to randomly cut more, so, I will have "enough"

I found this free quilt along with Debby Brown  from Alycia at quilty girl. I had started making postage stamps last year for the rsc. and once the gate was opened, I enjoy making 16 patches as well.

Here are the pink squares

here are the yellow squares

I am still working on my green ufo for March Christmas sparkle   a free pattern found here

I thought I would have a top yesterday, but, my quilting buddies think I need to add a row. what do you think? it is 71 inches square now. I admit I like a rectangle quilt, too, but, a Christmas quilt is more likely used as a lap quilt right? Although, I use a Christmas quilt on my bed for a couple of months each year.

color blocks

It was time to sort through my 2 1/2 inch strip drawer. The color of the month for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy is yellow. I wanted to make 16 patches in yellow 16 patch blocks for the Debby Brown color blocks quilt along, but, I only had 5- 2 1/2 inch squares to be found. I pulled out the shortest strips and cut squares. I really didn't count.

I had fun sewing them together. I had several repeats, but, they will be in various places in a quilt.

I found this free quilt along with Debby Brown  from other bloggers. There is a new quilt pattern every month, but, right now, I am just making blocks and will decide later.
