waffle retirement

I have the orange waffle stamp blocks finished for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy, in orange. I have added over 100 blocks this year. But, I am retiring this project to the ufo closet to wait it's turn for assembly.

and pink

We grew sweet corn this year. And it worked. All our lives we have been near seed corn, and as a courtesy didn't grow it. So, this is new to us. We wondered with our critter problem this year, if we would even find our ears of corn gone one morning. We have a knee high fence, but the animals laugh at that. We ate corn, and loved every minute. ta da I bet that next year we will be on a critter vacation guide. I am sure the word will get out and every deer in the state will visit to see and eat. haha

last purple rsc saturday

This is the last Saturday for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I spent the week finishing what I needed in purple for my rainbow projects. And, I am ready for the new color.

I had a few blue waffle stamp blocks

And it is sweet corn yummy season here. Our favorite farmer has his stand open and we are loving his corn. We grew a bit but it isn't ready. But it is time to sit out with a bee bee gun and protect it from the critters haha

just a few more

I thought I was done with the waffle stamp blocks for the month. I needed to cut 1 1/2 inch squares for the easy breezy blocks I am making. While I was digging around, I found more short pieces and just thought I would sew a couple. Then, after making a few sets, I found shirt strips, and thought I would sew them together for future 4 or 9 patches. And finally, why not add a few more waffle stamp blocks.

It was a 1 1/2 inch kind of day.

strip sets ready to cut for the middles

future 4 or 9 patches

We are starting to see some blooms on the deck. I don't have many summer flowers, mostly Spring flowers, so I am glad to see color again. Ok, truth, I have more weeds than flowers.

waffling

I cut several sets of 1 1/2 inch strips for waffle stamp blocks in blue for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. But, I ran out of the pieced middles. I thought I had made some ahead. sigh...

Sew, my sewing session involved sewing short strips together in sets of 5. I do enjoy doing this. It is a therapeutic way to sew and go with the flow. I have used most of my short strips and will have to adopt another benchmark for sewing these strips. I haven't been cutting scraps lately, maybe that will sort it for me. I get more short strips after a scrap management session.
These will surely get the blue sets done.

waffle sky

I am guessing I only meant to cut more waffle stamp blocks this year for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. because, when I went to sew this month's color, I found several piles of pieces of other colors. I did finish green and red this month. I can get lost in making the strips for the 1 1/2 inch center blocks. And I can always dig up an odd piece of 1 1/2 inch that I can use. So, I just keep making them, and there is no stopping. There is always a partial piece to be finished. The upside to that, is that it is easy to start again, already to go.

I walked out of the library today to this fun cloud show. How grateful I am for the little things that make me smile. There was a solid piece and then little pieces were breaking off in a line like marching soldiers. And it looked like waffles.

hunters star and waffles

This is the last week in April for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I finished cutting and sewing for my Hunter's star

Then, I felt that I had enough of a variety to try putting 2 blocks together and see how it looks. I think I am going to like it a lot.

I made s few waffle stamp blocks in pink to finish the month. I thought I had made all the blocks I would need last year, but, somehow I was very short when I tried to put them together. I think I misplaced some of them. So, I am trying to make more this year, too. I don't mind, I like making them.

Spring is here. Our lawn mower is in the hospital. Our neighbor has mowed 5 times already.- LOL -I am harvesting chives and dehydrating them. I only have 2 clumps of them, but, they are very busy growing. I think the rhubarb needs a haircut, too.

waffle stamp blocks progress

I still have waffle blocks in process. I had a bit of extra time at friday group and started putting 4 blocks of 2 together. It will definitely be a busy quilt. I began this quilt as part of the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. It is a great scrap buster using 1 1/2 inch pieces.

But, There has to be missing blocks somewhere. There isn't as many as I thought I made. Am I going crazy? I thought I had cut for 160 + blocks. I only have half that.

goals

The rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy color for August is aqua. I remembered country roads that is ready to be quilted and decided that will be my goal for one monthly goal at elm street quilts. I have some charity quilts to quilt first, then I will give it a turn on the longarm.

It is time to put waffle stamp blocks away for a little vacation since I have finished the last of the blocks to be sewn.

I have 168 blocks

I have cut and sewn these blocks along with the rainbow scrap challenge this year also. I have other projects I want to move along.

waffle progress

I have just a few more waffle stamp blocks. After my daughter and her family left for her home so very far away, I sewed some random blocks to keep from tears. It really didn't work. But, I made a little progress

I just realize that I have to start the upper right block of each block in the same direction for the waffle stamp blocks. sigh...

on the go top

this past week I started working on an older ufo - on the go. It was a kit I bought in 2014 for a donation quilt. It is bright and colorful and easy. I added the outside borders this morning. It was raining or I would have a better picture. I have fabric for the binding, but, I will need to find a suitable backing in my stash. Then, it will live with the other quilts waiting to be quilted.

My radishes are ready for harvesting. I picked a mild radish, and, it is too hot for me. Good thing the leaves are edible. I have had 3 whole green beans from my raised bed.

I have made a little progress on ongoing projects. I am still making waffle stamp blocks and I had a few sets of tiny houses cut. These are always a welcome diversion from cleaning and finishing quilts.

quilt waffles

We have felt the aftermath of the tropical storm elsa here in Indiana. Lots of rain and mild winds hit yesterday, and, it looks like more rain today. The garden is happy, the gardener not so much.

coreopsis -good for disinfection and metabolic disorders and it is pretty

It is always a pleasure when the quilt is off the floor at the longarm. I am making progress on aunt eliza's star. It is a big quilt. I am doing swirls, nothing fancy.

I have a few waffle blocks left to make. I need to make more pieced rows for the centers.

odd colors that were not part of the rainbow scrap challenge

I can make sets of 4 blocks until I cut and make more centers. They are like potato chips, you can't stop at one.

easy blocks

I haven't dug into the dark scraps yet for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

I just have been working on the same old stuff - easy breezy

I am going to need to cut more yet again

waffle stamp blocks

I saw this truck in a parking lot and thought it was beautiful and timely.
