peek a boo bunnies finished

Just in time for Spring, I have a finish. Peek a boo bunnies is an older ufo that is finally quilted and bound. I saw a picture of this quilt in a magazine and loved the bunnies. For February, I added this to the 5 quilts project as a top priority.  I have had so many quilts just waiting to be quilted that I want to work on them as a goal this year.

52 x 62 = 9 yards

The backing fabric is the reason I started this quilt in  2020. It was ready for quilting in 2022.

peek a boo bunnies

My top priority for my 5 quilt project this month is quilting an older ufo in the 'to be quilted closet' Peek a boo bunnies

I started this quilt in  2020 with a piece of fabric. It was a top in 2022. And then, it has had a vacation waiting to be quilted. I need to find a back and binding and add it to the longarm, as soon as a customer quilt is finished. It is very cute - love the bunnies.

baby size for donation

If I stay on track, I may have a Spring quilt ready for Spring decorating. When has that ever happened?
I had open sew Saturday and we had such a cute little surprise

bunnies is a top

I have finished my bunny quilt to the top stage. I think It is very cute and, coincidently, I am going to be a Grandmother again. I might be ahead on this one. Now, this quilt will be sent to the "to be quilted" closet, and, wait it's turn for the longarm.

hoping for a safe halloween for all the kiddos

We did just a little bit of fun decorating this year.

friday group and bunnies

One of my 5 quilts ufos is this little bunny quilt I started a few years ago. I opened the box, recently, and, discovered fabric and bunny blocks. At my Friday group, I used a jelly roll to make the solid sashing and a matching fat quarter bundle to make the squares sashing. I have the perfect border fabric for it in my stash. I wanted this for a baby quilt.

Judy surprised us with a finished boho heart top that is gorgeous. Now, I am the last one that needs to finish.

Judy's boho

While we were meeting, an older  quilter ( nearly 100) from guild popped in to leave some scraps. She is cleaning out ( it never ends) her stash. Everyone else took a piece or two, and, then, I brought the rest home for a fun adventure. How can something so innocent make such a mess when it gets to my house?

quilt and rug

In may, I had all the bunnies fused to the blocks, except these two. I couldn't do these, because, they needed to overlap the borders. I wasn't sure about the borders, so, I left them for a bit in time out.
Now, I have all the bunnies fused, and stitched around, and bordered. The pattern, I am loosely following calls for 2 inch squares as sashing. I am not sure, what I want, yet. I need to let it percolate a little.

My rug hooking group has started meeting again at the library. My husband is a great rug hooker, too. He spent some of his recovery from back surgery, working on this rug. It was a pattern that he had found as a small stitching pattern. He enlarged it, and drew it on linen. And, in case you can't see the resemblance, that is me watering the flowers. He did a wonderful job on the rug, and I love it. He dyed the sky and the yarn binding himself.

Finishing this rug, was appropriate during a pandemic. It reminded us to seek for self reliance and virtue.

bunny blocks

I have bunnies on my table. I haven't stitched them yet, but, they are all pressed. I have straight stitch machines set up in my sewing room, so, I will have to haul a zigzag machine to the dining room to actually stitch these.

I am looking forward to putting this quilt together. I started this quilt with a fabric and went from there. Usually, I start with a pattern and find the fabric for the quilt. It is fun challenging myself the other way. Although, quilting is always challenging myself : where did I lay the scissors, why am I 2 blocks short, how long can I sew without bobbin thread, where did I put that project, where can I stuff more fabric?

bunny quilt

This idea for a quilt started with the fabric. Going through a box in my sewing room, I found this cute bunny fabric, and wondered if I would ever use it. hmmm... I put it on my table and walked by it often, trying to think  - what should I do with an obvious one purpose piece of fabric. I didn't think it would blend in with other scraps very well. And I really don't want an Easter quilt. Should I donate it? Then  it clicked. I remembered a bunny quilt I had seen in quiltmaker magazine, that I thought was cute. And, if I make it juvenile enough, a child won't care if it has easter bunny fabric as long as the bunnies are cute.

I used the pattern in the magazine to make the bunnies, but, I wanted it bigger, so, I made 9 bunnies. I traced it onto wonder under light and cut them out while watching TV. I think they will be so cute. However, if I do this with every piece of fabric that I try to organize.......

My hubby had surgery yesterday on his back. The surgery went well, but, he has had a few issues with his blood pressure and has made pain medications wonky.

His surgery was about 6 hours.
I had a waiting room all to myself.

I spent my time tracing bunnies for an Easter quilt.

I started to knit a scarf using yarn I spun myself.
