blocking scarf

While my hubby was in the hospital for back surgery in early March, I started a scarf to pass the waiting time. It was nearly done by the time we came home. It has taken me awhile to get it blocked. I am always surprised by how much better a knitted piece looks after it is blocked.

I had hand spun the yarn a year ago and finally had a use for it. I like to spin better than I like to knit. I found the pattern here.

Day 2 of my hubby's back surgery recovery, and, I made a good start on a drop stitch scarf. I'm sure I have altered the pattern with a little boo boo here and there. It is really looking pretty good, considering I was interrupted every 20 minutes. And was bored easily.

I realized I haven't posted about a rug hooking class last week with a teacher from Noblesville that our group invited for a workshop. We are learning shading using her flower pattern. Our choices were purple or red. My kit is the red.

This is our teacher's rug, and, I really liked it. Maybe mine will look good too. I haven't worked on it much yet. We are still at the hospital, waiting to find a balance between pain and his blood pressure being too low. He is very uncomfortable.

My hubby had surgery yesterday on his back. The surgery went well, but, he has had a few issues with his blood pressure and has made pain medications wonky.

His surgery was about 6 hours.
I had a waiting room all to myself.

I spent my time tracing bunnies for an Easter quilt.

I started to knit a scarf using yarn I spun myself.

3. blog one monthly goal - done
4. make materials list for March workshop - done

next week's to do:
1. go home from the hospital

Mittens

 What is this?

There is no snow anywhere else. My car was the snow target? LOL

Val's archive theme this week is mittens. I have just unearthed a project that was left undone and packed away in the Christmas boxes.
I made these mittens from handspun yarn that my husband spun that was more art yarn than practical yarn. I loved the primitive Christmas look idea and knew it would make the yarn useful again. But even though it looks like I had gathered fun stuff to put in them, I didn't get them finished. I think there is still time.

I am nearly done with clue #2 from En Provence mystery quilt (link in sidebar). I have all the bright triangle in a squares blocks done, but only half way through the civil war colorway.

I am ready to press and beautify my Christmas rug.

And I want to update my progress on my Knit the sky Project. I nearly lost it when the Grandchildren came for Thanksgiving, but I am up to date.
