stash report September 7, 2025

This week, I attended a small quilt show in Pendleton Indiana. They have one every year, and it is located in museum. I like the quilts hanging over the antiques and curios. I bought a bag of scraps, which is a delight for me. This time, the town was hosting a fall craft festival, and, the weather was a perfect fall day.

I have created a new friendship swap for my rug hooking group. It is a swap rug. Everyone wanted houses this time. It has two rows of houses, and trees, too. We each do a house on our own rug, and then, we pass it around for everyone to hook a house on our rug, When we are done, we will have a rug with our friends hooking on it. I have made 2 or 3 others and they are such a treasure. We have a goal to trade every two weeks.

I finished this  house for Carolyn. I attempted a stained glass window and steps.

I found a wide backing at a garage sale that was a great price. I am not a fan of black backings, but, sometimes, I want a darker background. This will do the trick.

I couldn't find what I wanted in the quantity I would need. sigh  I have no idea what inspired me to take any of these pictures over others. It had been 2 years since we attended the show, and it was a lovely adventure.

1st rug that caught my eye

Mu husband rug hooks, too. He was intrigued with this one.

stash report August 10, 2025

I bought a bolt of fabric from Missouri star because it was a deal. I was completely surprised when it arrived on the bolt and it was a joann fabric- Keepsake calico. Apparently, Missouri star bought during the liquidation. I did not see anything in the ad that is was from Joann or I probably wouldn't have bought it. But, it is still fabric. Who doesn't like new fabric?

I have been digging in a box of fat quarters. These were the brown ones. Brown is a puzzle for me. I personally like brown, but, there are very few brown quilts or fabric in our modern quilting world. Still, it is a classic color, rather than trendy. what do you think?

8 yards used more than bought. I am starting the year ahead on fabric.

I have so many scraps to get through, I really don't need to buy anything this year. This will be my next bin of scraps to cut. It is a 15 quart cheap plastic container. It weighs 8 pounds -if there are 3 yards in a pound = 18 yards of fabric. I need to remind myself of this to keep from buying.

I stitched at least 15 minutes 5 days this week. But, I didn't spend much more than 15 minutes each day.

Once the friendsheep exchange began in my rug hooking guild, we have been passing them around pretty quickly.

stash report january 2, 2022

Last year I accumulated 173 yards of fabric - which had to weigh 519 pounds. No wonder my house is creaking. If each quilt averaged 20 yards that is 8 1/2 quilts. I used 233 1/2 yards in my quilt making. In my mind I pick up a little here and there, not almost 200 yards. If I say I won't buy any over 100 yards this year. what will I do if I buy all of that in January. That leaves 11 months of no fabric.

fabric I cut from gifted fabric

I need to tame my scraps better this year and try not to buy much at all. My weakness is the "great" deal so now, I own a great deal of fabric sigh.....
should I still take free scraps? probably not, but I bet I can't resist.
It's good to start all over at the beginning of the year.

stash report december 26 2021

The last stash report of the year - I hope you all had a merry Christmas. Ours was quiet

I am facing a scrap dilema. I am sure I have officially more scraps than yardage, but I can't find room for them or all the scrap quilts I want to make. They are piling up higher and higher. And it seems that the more I cut, the more there is. They are lurking behind every corner, under every surface, hanging from the ceiling. There is some in the garage, attic, and basement. Somehow, I must make a stand. I am just not sure what.  These totes are all scraps. If you go by weight there is 900 yards. Most of my quilts take 20- 25 yards = 36 quilts. I finished 18 quilts this year, but start to finish I might make 8. My scraps alone could last more than 4 years
