aunt eliza star finish

This quilt is finished and will find a home on our bed. I really like it. I like the crumb centers for the blocks, and the scrappy star points. I used a vintage fabric for the border, and I love gingham. It is a winning combination for me. I started making this on our Christmas trip to Florida in 2015

24 yards of fabric - 82 x 92

I used a wide back from Joann and free motion hooked curves

I started sewing at camp at disney.

Eliza is a top

I am happy with the top of Aunt Eliza's stars. This was my one monthly goal for May. Which I didn't get ready on time. It turned out larger than I expected. 82x 92. My favorite part is the border. I am not sure where it came from, but, I know it is a vintage piece since it was 36 inches wide. And it is so cute.

It was so windy that I almost didn't catch a shot of it before it rolled itself into a ball.

It is time for this quilt to live in the "to be quilted" closet. It's embarrassing how many quilts live there.

May Goal

I am not getting comment notification in my email - any fixes?

This is a Bonnie HUnter quilt ufo, that, I started before she printed the pattern. She showed making the blocks during a quilt cam, and, we were at least a year away from the book ( string frenzy) release. I had  most of the string centers in my stash of crumb blocks. I hunted around for the pattern, made it in 3 different sizes, chose my favorite size, and, made them in our room in Florida over Christmas. I thought I could get ahead a bit by having my blocks ready for the book release. When her book was released, the only quilt I didn't like in the book was xing using this block . sigh...

I thought I would want to have an alternate block, but, the quilt would be too big. I think a simple sashing will do. I have this great red vintage fabric, I will use at least as the cornerstones. No wait - borders

This will be my one monthly goal at elm street quilts for May to make it into a top. It is also part of my PHD 21 goals, and as the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

cheerful red

I hope to follow a plan for working the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy this year.

1. grab color wire basket and sort

I keep my fabric chunks in wire baskets by color. Some baskets are in tidy shape, others, not so much. Red is in good shape, and still looks tidy.

3. make ongoing rsc blocks

These bits and pieces were just sitting on top of my table waiting to be put away. When I saw that we were using red for May and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy, I just sewed them together rather than putting them in drawers. But, then, from the looks of my table, Angela could have chosen any color, and I would have had something to make on the quick.

1 1/2 inch  strips and squares

2. decide ufo by color -prioritize as #1

red - Aunt Eliza star

This is a ufo from 2014 and our Christmas trip to Florida. I have the blocks made. I think I need an alternative block. I would like something chainy, but, I am not sure I want to go to the trouble. ( mojo is missing). I have all month.
