sweet tooth

I have my candy blocks ready for April and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. Angela dropped the hint for the color a little early, so, I quick made crumb blocks and tada.. candy. I have baggies of strings sorted by color for the year.

It looks like I have some cutting to do with my pink scrappy strips. Last year, I was a little overwhelmed with my rsc choices for projects. This year, I was minimal at the start. But, with each passing month, I am adding something new that catches my eye. I think I just really see rainbow colors everywhere. I definitely drank the kool aid. haha

Sweet tooth candy blocks

I woke up one morning, and, I wanted to make noodles. That was odd. Who wants to make noodles when you can open a bag from the store. The house was quiet, and, I cracked open a few eggs and started. It was a very sentimental time, and filled my heart with love for all the really great women who had taught me how to make noodles. I first thought of my Mother, who has been gone for 20 years. I could see her unrolling those long noodles and she talked about her Mother teaching her. It was an art to my Grandmother's generation. Pat Burton, taught a Relief Society class at church when I was a young homemaker, making it look doable. And Linda Phipps had me come to her home, and we made them her way together.  I made them with my daughter, and we had a flour fight. But, I know she is not the type to make homemade noodles. I made them with my Granddaughters. They thought it was messy. haha. If I ask my children their favorite meal that they want me to make for them, they request chicken and noodles with homemade noodles.  I have an attachment for my kitchen aid mixer, but, I can do them so much better, the old fashioned way. A bowl, an egg, some flour, a rolling pin, and some sentimental thoughts.

I made some candy blocks for the month of March and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

The yellow strings just lined up this way, all straight.

Kitchen adventures

I have had a muse in the kitchen of all places. I didn't think I liked the kitchen much, but after the children have left, and I can do what I want, when I want, as slow as I want, I am actually liking it. I decided to make homemade ravioli for the first time. I used the kitchenaid to mix the dough, and pasta roller to roll the dough. I found a great cheese filling recipe. It was fun and really delicious. I didn't get pictures making it, but here is one of the batch I made for the freezer. Homemade is so much better than store bought.

I used this website for how to and confidence
And  this recipe for dough and cheese.

While I had the dough making stuff out, I made noodles for my son's birthday coming soon. He usually requests homemade chicken and noodles and real potatoes. I used the same dough recipe as the ravioli which is  a little different. We will see if He notices a difference.
I  am teaching the church ladies at Relief Society how to can butter for food storage. So I needed to test it first. I am very happy with the results and it was very easy. Here are the directions.

It came out very creamy and spreadable. It has a shelf life of three years.
I have small quilt group tonight and have started oatmeal honey bread in the bread machine. very yummy.
With 3 April birthdays, I will be making a few cakes this month too.
 not much quilting...
