featherweight tote

My Friend had designed a featherweight mate pattern for a carrier and table protector for the featherweight. She has a pattern on craftsy. I made one a bit ago, and it is getting worn out ( or I was just tired of it), so it was time to make another one. I wanted it to be a little brighter but still look good with the black of my featherweight.

It is so easy to put a sewing machine in and out of a case with it in the carrier. It has handles and when it is opened on the table, it protects the table and has a place for your favorite tools.

I don't use my official featherweight box, because I don't want to tear it up with traveling. I use a regular sewing tote, and I want my machine to be protected. There is also an extra flap in the design that fits between the table and the little screw on the side when the table is folded up for traveling.

I felt like cutting last night and cut several sets of glitter

and 3 inch churndashes

Sometimes I just want to mess in the scraps, and cutting these little pieces was therapeutic.

Perhaps not so smart to blog about a huge mistake I made on a quilt that must be named a series of unfortunate events. Again, my tumbler quilt, the January UFO and One Monthly Goal, has tried to engulf me in discouragement. But, Alas, I don't give up easily.
 I have been machine quilting it, slowly, as I saw the end in sight, I noticed that the back was not going to be long enough. Really. by about 2 inches. Really. What to do? My featherweight saved the day.

I cut another strip of backing, I unattached the bottom of the quilt, flipped it to the back of the frame, and inched my featherweight down the back of my longarm frame sewing it to the rest of the backing. Sew a little, move the featherweight, sew a little, repeat. Then, I reattached the backing to the frame and kept quilting. sigh....

Now, I figured and figured the size I would need in the first place. Where did I miscalculate?  Who knows.I am guessing I had the backing turned wrong either when I pieced it or when I put it on the frame. sigh...  But, hey, the binding was big enough ! It was fixable and it will make a great story a few weeks from now.

My Featherweight group met this week. We are small but mighty.  Judy had a top finish. Isn't it lovely?

I have decided one closet in my house is enough for my quilts waiting to be quilted. But, then, after organizing and finding and moving all of my quilts to that closet, they didn't all fit. sigh... "Somebody" needs to spend more time quilting her own quilts. Let's not count.

I did have a baby quilt finish on the longarm.

I quilted a free motion stipple with hearts. And today, I will hand stitch the binding for my slow Sunday stitching.
I did receive an order from Missourri Star Quilt Co.
