week 4 -rainbow scrap challenge November

My red and brown pfeffernuesse quilt. for the rainbow scrap challenge is a top. I started the string blocks in 2016. It deserved to be finished. I was great at starting projects many years ago. I guess, I was making retirement projects. Pulling out an older ufo, is so much fun, if, I don't go down the " what was I thinking" rabbit hole.

I was diligent about sewing sugar grove blocks this past week. I now have 50 of the 72 I need for the quilt. Making them is part of my muscle memory by now.

I ironed the last of the zig zag quilt blocks. I used up many 1 1/12 inch strips, but, it still doesn't look like a whole quilt in the drawer.

stash report November 16, 2025

I am very slowly unpacking the bag of fabric that I bought at a quilt show rummage sale. Everything was measured by the pound. I am measuring and marking the larger pieces.

I was excited to find a few reproduction fabrics for my stash.

stash report November 16, 2025

fabric added this week: 2 3/4 yards

fabric added year to date for 2025: 74 1/4 yards

fabric used this week: 0 yards

fabric used year to date for 2025: 265 1/2 yards

191 1/2 yards used more than bought in 2025

I sewed 6 days last week - I am making a daily effort to finish up my rainbow scrap challenge projects for the year.

Now, that I am finished with my swapping on the friendship rug, I am taking a little break to work on my Christmas rug forever project.

I have added more background around the fence and set the background around the next house with a roof.

week 3 -rainbow scrap challenge November

After ironing the red and brown pfeffernuesse quilt. for the rainbow scrap challenge this month. I searched for the inner border and attached the final choice for the quilt. I have also been searching for the outer border. I planned for brown. My selection of browns were lackluster. But, buried amid the browns, was a lovely burgundy red that I think is "the one". on the right

it is deeper than the picture

I have actually pressed the zig zag quilt blocks every day this past week. I have less to go than I have done.

it doesn't look like a whole quilt

I am still sewing the sugar grove blocks. I have all the  premade kits I have made over the year done, but I still have partial kits and more hsts that were made but not in kits, yet.

week 2 - rainbow scrap challenge November

I have the top ready for borders for my red and brown pfeffernuesse quilt. I am excited to finish this older bonnie hunter ufo. I worked on it, in the red and the brown months, for the rainbow scrap challenge. I am pleased with my progress this week.

I took single pictures this week, not sure if I would get more done than just one. I fell behind on  sugar grove blocks. I really want to catch up by the end of the year.

I have all the blocks made for  a zig zag quilt I want to make using 1 1/2 inch scrap strips. I made them, but, did not iron them and the drawer looked intimidating. I decided I would iron as many as I could until the end of the year. Maybe, I can sew them together next year for each color of the month.

My fingers are not as nimble anymore, so I pulled out my finger cots to open them as I was ironing. They worked great.

stash report November 2, 2025

I am very slowly unpacking the bag of fabric that I bought at a quilt show rummage show. Everything was measured by the pound.

I was excited to find this pack of 30s fabrics. There were 6-10 inch squares. I have a fondness for fabric from the 30s( reproductions) I think it brightens anyone's mood, even now,  just like during the depression. And I respect are ancestor quilters for being concerned for their message during such a difficult time- look forward with hope.

stash report November 2, 2025 - nothing changed really

fabric added this week: 0 yards

fabric added year to date for 2025: 68 yards

fabric used this week: 0 yards

fabric used year to date for 2025: 265 1/2 yards

197 3/4 yards used more than bought in 2025

I sewed 5 days last week - made it to open sew and added a quilt to the frame

Now, that I am finished with my swapping on the friendship rug, I am taking a little break to work on my Christmas rug forever project.

Not much hooking, but some planning, cutting more strips, and setting goals again.

week 1 - rainbow scrap challenge November

I have been working on finishing up my  red and brown pfeffernuesse quilt  as part of my rainbow scrap challenge projects. I am so close to finishing, I didn't want to put it away again. I have no idea when it would reemerge. I have started making rows. I already like the secondary pattern. At my sewing group, another quilter mentioned it was very busy. hmm.. I like it anyway. I want to have the top finished for my one monthly goal in November.

I have one lonely sugar grove block done this week. I am planning on concentrating, on these blocks, to catch up. as best as I can, before the end of the year.
