hollow nine is my next 5 quilt project which is also an older ufo from the rainbow scrap challenge 2023. I was convinced I had the big border on this before I put it away, but, no. I plan to applique the border with raw edge applique. I have the bias stem ready, and a few of the flowers cut. O plan on working on this in December.

And, now, I have added a 10 inch border. I hope I made it big enough that I can trim it after I add the applique.

Great progress. Can't wait to see the appliquéd border. It sounds delightful.
ReplyDeleteLoving your plan for the Hollow 9 blocks. Adding applique in the border will elevate a really simple scrappy block to a whole new level.
ReplyDeleteYou've been moving along with your RSC projects. Happy stitching this week.
ReplyDeleteThe nine-patches are great as they are but the applique will enhance them. Are you doing the new mystery?
ReplyDeleteThe Hollow 9's are already cute, so I can't wait to see how awesome the applique border will turn out!
ReplyDeleteHollow Nines with an applique border sounds very pretty. I've got a bunch of these blocks too, just had to jump aboard once I saw them appearing on RSC. Wonder how many others have them too, tucked away?
ReplyDeleteLove your Hollow Nine blocks / quilt top. I have a good stack of them too, but not going to do anything about it this year! Fun Sugar Grove blocks too.
ReplyDeleteYour Hollow Nine blocks are so colourful and pretty; as are your Sugar Grove blocks too!
ReplyDeleteI love what you are doing with the monthly color challenge. I see so many good ideas that I've already forgotten what I decided to do with it next year!
ReplyDeleteYour border idea for Hollow nice sounds perfect! I can't wait to see it. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
