I try to work on these 5 quilts until they are done. Their turn in the UFO closet is over, and, they need to be finished one way or another. PHD in 2025 Project List

I can't believe it is the end of March. I visited a garage sale for a member of our guild who had passed away last year. Mostly, her children, priced the fabric very high, and very few of us went home with much of anything. I tried, but, the only thing I bought was a ziplock of fat quarters that seemed to coordinate. There were 13 for 15.00

I decided to make tiny Tuesday quilt my one monthly goal for March. It was part of the 5 quilt project last year. I didn't get it done in 2024, so I added it to this year's ufo projects. This was a QAL with the rainbow scrap challenge in 2019. It was so much fun to make the the blocks each week and use up the scraps at the same time. The blocks were designed by the academic quilter. After the blocks were done, those participating were on their own for how to finish it. I used a few orphan blocks to make it a little bigger and to fill out the rows. I used a scrappy white with pink rosebuds for the backing and the background fabric for the binding.

I have added the first border and I am prepping the rest. It was scarey, but they are all cut, and so far, nothing bad has happened to them. The border fit, and, I have decided to do square in a square corners. I am happy to see the end of this older ufo. I may meet my one monthly goal of a finish for March. Tulips are up and the forsythia is starting to bloom, We've had a lot of wind here lately. The top half of a tall pine tree broke off and landed in 1 piece. I've seen the whole tree fall many times but not just the whole top.
I decided to donate an older ufo kit with all the pieces to the guild. I am still digging through piles. We have a guild quilt show in April and I want to unload some projects I will never get to making.

I had time to make a few more foursies with my zipper blocks. I could catch up blue and yellow centers for the rainbow scrap challenge. These are large hunks ready to be assembled when the colors are finished this year
I may regret not ironing them each month. |

I am reexamining my string blocks for blue skies which was originally made for the quilt blue skies from Bonnie Hunter book string fling. I made the string blocks during a string basket cleaning in 2016. I was string piecing anything in the book I might want to make while I was playing with strings. At some point, I decided I would not want to cut and make 2,376 hsts for the quilt. I found another quilt that I could make instead.
I didn't get any of this quilt done during February and the blue color for the rainbow scrap challenge. The color for March is yellow, so, I didn't have to put it away again. I don't think I will get it finished this year. It isn't a 5 quilt ufo project. It is a rsc project. But, I can certainly continue through March. I cut all the 7 1/2 inch squares in white that I would need to make larger hsts with the string blocks.
I am using the yellow hsts as leader/ enders as I work on other projects. Any that I finish now, will move the project forward and be a bonus later.
