goals

I cut all the HSTS for frolic mystery quilt. I planned on taking them with me to Friday group. I didn't work on them at all.

This is how I spent my time instead. I was ready to lay all the blocks out and start webbing the rows. My back was very tired after, all this design floor business. I still had some rearranging to do. But, in the end, I had the rows all labeled and stacked, so that, I can just run it through the sewing machine.

It is time to plan for the first quarter of 2020 finish along. Anything I have plans to start, I don't think I will be ready to finish, yet. So, I have mainly planned on finishing the quilts in the nearly done category.

1. sister's nine patch
2. sand castles
3. lucy's baskets
4. frolic
5. sweet land of liberty
6.woven checkerboard
7. Jamestown landing
8. 1/2 square xmas
9.end of rainbow
10. wonky courthouse
11. sparkle punch

irish chain and green

Last year, for the rainbow scrap challenge, I made 4 patches for an Irish chain quilt, This year, I am adding the sashing units to make the whole block.

I made 8 of green. When I laid the squares out for the photo, one was missing in with another project, but, I found the sneaky little thing.

I will work on this quilt according to the color of the month.

green scraps

The color for the rainbow scrap challenge for January is bright green. Last year, the month of green, I didn't really do a look through the basket. I knew I needed to pull everything out, and sort through, to discover what hidden treasures I might have in the basket. My original plan was to cut everything into useable sizes. But, after it was neat and tidy, I didn't want to cut it.

After a good night's sleep, I was ready to cut again. I cut 3 1/2, 2 1/2, 2, and 1 1/2, and there were some I added to the strings bucket. The top row was a little bigger, and I set it aside to cut triangles I have a scrap quilt I want to make that needs green 2 inch strips. And I need the 2 1/2 inch strips for scraptastic stars and shine.

I didn't cut these, because they intrigued me. I think there is enough for a quilt, if the quilt presents itself. They are good old 90s fabrics.

I finished the whole basket, and, now, I have room to add more - haha

Lucy's basket

We had a visitor to our little Friday quilt group. She had made these little fabric star ornaments for each of the guild members for our Christmas meeting. We were all thrilled. When she made a visit with us she taught us how to make them.  I could follow along with her and made mine, but, I don't think I could do it again on my own.

This was the day I put my basket quilt together. I don't have a plan beyond this. I am guessing it is about 65 by 70.  Each basket is 3 1/2 inches. More here and here and here and here

frolic 4

I finally finished clue 4 for frolic mystery quilt from quiltville. I really don't like the matchy matchy thing she is doing, and, it takes forever, especially with using scraps, which, I kicked out the window pretty quickly after starting the clue.

Just this morning, I cut the pieces for clue 5. I really am no longer motivated to keep up the mystery. But, I am sure that will change as more is revealed.

stash report january 5, 2020

I haven't done a stash report since July. I had back surgery in July and most of my routines fell apart.
I enjoyed watching the statistics through the year, so, I hope to make this a regular part of my blogging again.
I typically count the fabric that comes in the week of the stash report, but this is an exception. I bought this fabric as a jumbled scrap bag last year at a quilt show. I knew it was hefty, but as I unpacked the bag and folded it, I discovered 10 yards of very yummy fabric.

I rediscovered this scrap bag in an attempt to clean up my fabric room. I didn't want to just put his away on a shelf to be lost again, so, I did a little search of my ideas and patterns, and, decided to use a new pattern with this fabric. I am not even pretending to put this on the list for this year, but, it is ready now, if I should I get the urge to work on it. And it was pretty exciting to have made a plan for it, rather than just wish I had a plan for it.

Stash report

Fabric Used this Week 0 yards
Fabric Used year to Date: 0 yards

Fabric Added this Week: 10 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 10 yards
net fabric: 10 yards bought more than used

I have been at the sewing machine at least 15 minutes each day. The day is not complete without it.
I had a quilty friend over for New Year's eve and we celebrated by sewing. It was a great start to a quilty new year.

I have had a hard time starting my rug hooking after surgery.
This little project was a class in November. And it is time to finish it on slow stitching Sunday.
