english paper piecing

I was able to trim and add borders to my English paper piecing project at open sew, except the upper left hand corner that was not complete with the diamond EPP shapes. I was technically missing 3. I would have to add them at home. sigh..... I have tried to make this a goal for 3 months, now. I think not knowing how I wanted to finish it was the reason it stalled.- getting closer

I started ( 2009) English paper piecing with this quilt. I was sure I didn't want to do hexagons ( what did I know?) And this seemed simple enough to be a starter project.

I added the 3 missing pieces at home and then, could finish the border. I am ready to find the back and make the binding before it takes a vacation in the "to be quilted" closet, where it will meet old friends and have a great time.

sun was too bright

We are enjoying home grown beets this year. I canned a few pints of pickled beets for the pantry.

try again one monthly goal

We are going to try this again for my one monthly goal at Elm street quilts. I have filled in the blank spots and squared the EPP for this little handsewn quilt. I want to iron all the edges out ( they are still wrapped around the paper templates), and starch it before I trim it. Then, I will add a border, and quilt it. I used this as my goal for May but, didn't finish it.

goal for July

Stash report  July 3, 2022

fabric added: 0 yards

fabric added year to date: 60 3/4 yards

fabric used: 6 yards - I finished tiger, tiger

fabric used year to date: 136 yards

76 1/4 yards used more than bought.

I sewed 5 days last week. And I had a sew day with the guild Saturday

I have some hand stitching to do on my friendsheep rug, but, I have to trim and press first. I haven't gotten to that yet, But, I did put another rug on the stand, that I can work on slowly in the mean time.

I started it here in March while I was waiting for my sheep rug to finish with the other swappers. I did the hat and face and I am working on the banner above her head. She is a fun little witch.

One monthly goal fail

I had as my May one monthly goal, an older ufo. I have no idea how to finish this little quilt. I have procrastinated and procrastinated. That is why I am making it my one monthly goal or I will never see this finished.

Well, I did not finish. The 26th of May I said to myself - oops time is up. So, I did sew one piece to the side, and then, wondered why it had taken so long. sigh...

Maybe now that the thread is cut and the needle is threaded I can make a little progress on it. sigh

My Grandmother's rose bush has started to bloom. My Grandmother was a cute, little, old gardener. At least, that is my memory of her. Even in her 90s she would love to sit in the middle of the garden and start weeding. I started my first garden when I was 12 and she was there. She loved flowers and I was more inclined to food. I was 15 when she passed away and I dug up her rose bush and brought it with me into my adult life. One year there was no sign of it, and I was upset, but, it has come back and is ready to make me smile again.

May one monthly goal

I have no idea how to finish this little quilt. I have procrastinated and procrastinated. That is why I am making it my one monthly goal or I will never see this finished. Every time I think about it, the sun wasn't in the right place, or the wind was all wrong for me to do it. I have been waiting for the perfect conditions and they aren't going to happen. I started this English paper piecing project on an airplane going to and from  visiting my daughter. It has been awhile.

It looks like I need to fill in some edges

I had a jelly roll and decided to make each point of the star different.

to do: one monthly goal

It's a new month with new possibilities. The rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappys color for March is green. I have an older ufo in green that I want to complete for the month. This was one of my first EPPs. I remember starting it on the plane coming home from visiting my daughter several years ago. I knew I would be sad to leave her, so I picked something to do. I haven't worked on it in a long time. I wanted to make it bigger, but, now, I just want to finish it.

Another ufo I have, is a Christmas quilt with green, that I want to work on for the month to see how far I can get it before March 31. I think it is mostly cut out and ready to sew. I haven't sewn anything, yet.

I missed the table topper challenge for February. so I want to start early for the green of march with a kit I have had for a few years.... If I can understand the instructions. It uses a " squedge " template.
