rug class

Our little rug hooking guild is part of ATHA ( association of traditional rug hooking artists ). During the biennial gathering in Cleveland Ohio, we made contributions and received a monetary stipend for education as a thank you. Recently, we had a Bev Stewart from southern Indiana present a class for us. It was fun.
We each received this little project. I finished everything but the background in class.

In this project we learned beading with 2 colors of wool, proddy, crochet, and stem stitch, all with wool. I like the look of proddy ( flower), but it is tough on the hands. I am not at all sure what I want to do with it.

new rug hooking

Mr. Frosty #1 is complete and I have started Mr. Frosty #2.

If I am doing a dark night sky, I am not sure what color to make the hat yet. I  want it to contrast. So black won't work. I guess I will get colorful.

Carolyn finished her moon rug - very cute.

rug hooking

I am so glad this rug is finished. I was a little intimidated with the shading.

I've started a new rug, a collection of Cleveland highlights. This was a free rug pattern for attending the association of traditional rug hooking artists biennial in Cleveland last October. The next event will be in Denver Colorado in 2019. I hope to go. The big brown thing is a guitar for the rock and roll music hall of fame. I have dug through my wool to find the blue sky and the blue water which is the biggest part of the rug, so I am good to go.

My hubby has a finish as well. This was a class he took at Sauder village last year? from Donna Hrkman ( really spelled that way). He salvaged scrap metal pieces from the trash at work. very fun! The yarn he used to bind the rug, he spun himself a few years ago. He considers this a man rug with man colors.

rug hooking guild

I met with my rug hooking guild this week and caught up on all the news and fun.
I am preparing to attend the ATHA biennial in Cleveland next month. I will be taking a workshop from Tricia Travis and Vivily Powers. I am very excited. I have not attended the biennial before. I was first interested because  the guest speaker was Deanne Fitzpatrick from Nova Scotia. I really like her work, and wanted to hear what she has to say. But I didn't realize that the only way to see her was to make reservations for dinner. So I am on a waiting list.
Here, I hook with very talented ladies.

I really like Cindy's halloween project. Her moon color is great.

I love the colors in Beth's poinsettias on dyed linen
Vivians hooking is so very even and consistent.

And Carmen's is a wonder in progress

Carol is back with us - her son has been very ill. and she is binding her sheep

Marcelene has a big happy rug she is making for her daughter.

And oh the yummy wool colors...
