rsc tokoyo

There were only 6 blocks in the Tokoyo subway quilt that required light green, and only one of them already had another color. Green is the color of the month for the rainbow scrap challenge. I am really enjoying doing them this way with the colors of the month. It is a little puzzle and a mystery.

marie webster pieces

I like the hand stitching part of this quilt, but not the sew the interfacing part. I am sure I could not do a very good job of applique without the quiltsmart, because I just don't have the experience and practice, but I do dread the sewing the pieces part.

Still, I have finished 3 blocks this month.

Here is my favorite little messy happy place near the tv where I am working on 3 different projects and somehow have them all right beside me.
I have an American Beauty rose block I am hand stitching, under that is the rug ( uncle Sam's Hat ) I am hooking. I also have the lazy sunday quilt that I am rechecking for mistakes. There is barely  enough room for my feet.

lazy sunday fixed

I have fixed all the oops for lazy sunday read about it yesterday.
much better  -the center is all green

and all the 4 patches and 1/2 square triangles are pointing in the right direction. Boy, it is not fun taking pieces out of the center of a quilt. I need to check and recheck before it gets to the flimsy stage. I admit I am not focused enough at the just get it done stage.

backing is pieced and on the longarm and I have made a mass of binding.

lazy sunday oops

My Goal for the month was to quilt Lazy Sunday. It was all pieced, and I all I would have to do was put it on the frame and quilt it. Easy win. I thought I had all month, and I could dawdle if I wanted.
First, there was no back or binding. ugh. I usually don't put a quilt away if that is not done.
Second, I put it on the frame and something didn't look right. hmmmm
It looks like I got 2 rows switched, but I can fix it by taking just the two main blocks and switching them.

oops

yep, I have to take it apart and fix it. I just have to do it. sigh....

I am so glad I saw it before I quilted it. Sometimes, I don't see the mistakes until I am sleeping under them.

row by row

My friends at Friday group have been doing a row by row together using Jen Kingwell patterns. The only block I have done is the glitter block. I just have felt that I needed to finish up what I already have, but I knew as soon as I saw it I would be sorry I didn't sew along. sigh...

Isn't it wonderful!?

more snow days blocks

I haven't had energy to work on any mystery quilts this week, but I had some stitching time  and worked on the tree in between these two blocks of snow days. I nearly have the top row all ready, and part of the bottom row.

I have cut more Christmas fabric for jingle bell square from quiltville's addicted to scraps book. I am afraid I cut enough to make two. lol Each block takes 2 matching fabrics and 4 in the hour glass block and I am afraid I switched the two numbers in my head while counting. But they are so cute!

My goal for the month is to work on American Beauty Rose, a Marie Webster quilt . To do that, I need to prep more blocks for hand stitching. It has been long enough since I worked on it here, that I couldn't remember which way to lay the interfacing pieces to sew them. So I tried one piece.

It was right the first time.

soul searching

At Friday sewing group, I had a chance to cut and sew my green soul searching block for the rainbow scrap challenge. The green color is great. I have many 2 1/2 in strips in the green bin. Here are the other 2 colors
