crayon

I needed to catch up my crayons for the rainbow scrap challenge. I made a pink one from July.  I made lavender and purple for September.

We are off today to a rug hooking event.

crayon quilt

The color for March rainbow scrap challenge is green. I hope the leprechauns bring spring soon. Our temperatures have been in the single digits, but the sky looks more like Spring everyday.

I need 2 green crayons for the crayon quilt, I made the lighter version first, and, then decided I needed to get busy with the crayon points. They were not as difficult as I had thought.
This quilt is so simple in construction but makes me smile every time I work on it. It must be subconscious happy crayon memories.

yellow sunshine

I'm anxious to get started with the yellow for the rainbow scrap challenge for the month of February. I have the yellow row for wiggle time. It is such a cute quilt.

and the crayon pieced in yellow

I am going through the drawer of bigger hunks and chunks, and, either sorting them and refolding them. or cutting them into useable sizes. I needed 4 1/2 in strips for 2 of the rainbow quilts and 2 1/2 in strips for some of the quilts. Anything really little, I am cutting 2 1/2 in tumbler blocks or spike and valley blocks.

crayon rsc

Another quilt I want to make for the rainbow scrap challenge is the Emily Herrick Crayon quilt. It is great to start with a basic color of red.
I could cut these pieces from a 2 1/2 in strips which I still need to reduce.

I sewed them together in pairs and then 4s etc.

As a leader and ender I am sewing together the triangle pieces for pinwheel fancy

And a crayon was born.
