stash report May 10 , 2026

Happy Mother's day. I have a tshirt that reads I am a quilting Grandma, just like other Grandmas only cooler

I was looking for a back for my red and brown pfeffernuesse quilt top. I have a scientific method for choosing. Step 1 - look through everything I have and decide nothing is nice enough. And say that with all the fabric I have, how could it be there isn't anything. Step 2- think - I want to go the a fabric store and find something special. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I rarely find anything if I do. Step 3 - Stop being picky -It is the back after all. And I find something in my hoards of fabric that will be good enough.  Step 4- When the quilt is done... I will like it better than I thought I would.

In this case I found a hunk of red and a hunk of brown that I can sew together that will be big enough to use. Now, it is back to business.

I have decided to work on my older ufo applique project - across the wide missourri-

I have started prepping for block 11. These are smaller blocks that will fit to join all the blocks. There are a lot of trees in this quilt.

I am back in the groove for my Christmas in new England rug hooking, too.

It is time to make a Christmas tree

  1. Happy Mother's Day, you T-shirt sounds fun ;) I love your method for choosing backings, very scientific indeed! These red and brown fabrics are going to be a terrific backing once assembled. The hooked tree is looking great, the rug may be ready for Christmas! Thank you for sharing and linking up.

  2. Happy Mother's Day! Yeah for using up stash for the backing. I've been trying to use more of my stash for pieced backings. There are a couple of quilts to be gifted that I may buy backings for. You got lots done this week.

  3. How interesting, I use the same method to select backings and bindings. We are parallel inventors.

  4. Fun pop of color in the rug. My thought when looking for backing, binding, borders is that I must have something in all this fabric that will work.
