It has been awhile since my last report of the 5 quilt project. I found myself stuck with two challenging quilts, Rather than just reporting the same quilts over and over, I just kept working.
It is the end of December, and I am making a new list for 2026. I have 32 quilts next year that are in the running for time at the sewing machine. In 2024, I finished 41. It was a miracle. In 2025, I finished 14. I don't know what the difference was. I do know the 5 quilt project has been a true help in overcoming overwhelm and procrastination. But, some quilts take longer than others. The first mention I found of the 5 quilts was in October 2021. I remember, I was talking with quilty friends and mentioned I was overwhelmed with the shear number of ufos and quilts I want to make. A friend said, maybe if you just focus on a small number of quilts at a time.... And tada, the sun came out and everything was unicorns and rainbows. It has helped me remain active in my favorite sport ( quilting)
Making a report every month may be boring, But it keeps my mind focused. I will try to stay up to date with that.

Unconsciously, I have been using your idea to focus on getting a few number of UFO’s/projects finished and it really does help.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing your quilt progress. Have you found time to work on your applique blocks? Happy stitching in 2026!
ReplyDeleteYou get a lot done by focusing on the five quilts at a time! It also sounds like a good idea to spend one day a month cutting scraps. I should keep that in mind!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great year of finishes! I hope next year goes at least as well!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at how many you complete!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat year of finishes!! and fun to see what you will be working on next year. I am so amaze at your list and your stick to it ness!! ( I am sure that is a word right?)
ReplyDeleteYou have some beautiful finishes here, and plenty of plans in place for more, well done!
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful quilts! Your 5 quilts system is working! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYour 5 quilt plan has been really successful. Some quilts do take a longer to finish then others. That's why I struggle on those pick a UFO to finish in a month, I have some that need half a year! Good luck with your plan for next year. Fingers crossed it's as successful as it has been the last couple of years.
ReplyDeleteYour system is fabulous & obviously getting you to the finish line. I love all the quilts you finished, but my fav might be the Snowballs. It has such a cheery, scrappy vibe!
ReplyDeleteYou are well focused. As you said, some quilts require more attention than others. It all depends on the size and complexity of the quilt. Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteYou do such a great job of staying on focus with just a few things at a time. I struggle with focus every year. Who am I kidding? I struggle with focus every week. LOL Your Hollow 9 quilt will be so pretty with applique in the border to enhance the simple blocks in the center.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all your beautiful finishes. You continue to inspire me. Thanks for linking up.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finishes, Maggie! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great week!
