week 4 - March red rainbow scrap challenge

This month, I didn't have the resources to make as much as I wanted for the rainbow scrap challenge.

Still, I attempted to make as much as I could, with what I had access to with me. I was surprised how much fun that challenge was for me. I think I could get rid of a lot of stuff from my quilting studio at home. Although, I still have great ufos waiting in the wings that may need some stash fabric to finish.

I am so close with this yellow baby string quilt. I still have a few days left.....

so close

I sewed all the red zig zag quilt blocks with another color to make twosies.

I made 5 rolling windmill blocks in red. When I grabbed the blue background scrap, I saw plenty of red polka dots. Funny, how I was able to cut and sew it, and only a few showed up in the block.

\
I added the outside borders for the square, play blocks from 2 1/2 inch squares.

I brought the entire layer cake with solid colors for the frames of square dance  quilt, and red was one of the colors. I had brought my 2 inch squares with me to make the 16 patches. And, I still have a gazillion 2 inch squares to take home.

  1. I’m inspired to make a string pieced HST quilt after seeing your lovely yellow, almost a top, project. It really sings.

  5. I'm sure those small squares multiply overnight. I had a small stack last year which took me ages to finally use up. I like your windmill blocks.
