week 2 January blue rainbow scrap challenge

I was able to make 4 blue candy chains blocks which was my goal for the rainbow scrap challenge. So far, they are quick and easy. I am undecided about including the 9 patch chain in this year's plans.

I chose 4 of my 4 1/2 inch squares for square, play. I added a 2 1/2 inch border in  scrappy white, and cream. They are cute just the way they are.

I played with the blocks to decide on this arrangement for flying home . This an older rsc ufo from 2019. I have 8 leftover blocks. If I make 4 more, I might could add a row to the top and bottom to make it bigger.  hmmm

I was able to make the scrappy border pieces for the square play blocks by sewing in between the other sewing. I look forward to adding them next week to see the whole block. I am guessing that this project will still not empty the forever box of 2 1/2 inch squares.

  4. Lots of progress going. I love how you have so many varied and interesting quilts. I still am in awe of how many UFOs you have finished the past couple of years. Keep up your inspiration.

  5. Oh, I’m hoping you decide to make flying home bigger…only because leftover blocks tend to make another project happen in my quilt room, lol.

  7. Congratulations on getting out that 2019 UFO. Those blocks are going to make a great quilt. I always love rectangular quilts, especially if it keeps you from having leftover blocks.

  11. What a great start to the year! I love the RSC blocks you've chosen to make. I love, love the older RSC Flying Home. I think with two more rows it'll make a wonderful quilt. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
