I have a big basket of cut offs from quilting. I trim the quilts and dump them in the basket. I keep them because they are substantial pieces, and, could be combined to make a pieced backing. I am lazy about working on it. It is overflowing, because if I have a big enough piece I tend to use that first. I grabbed a hunk of of them, and started piecing some together for a franken-batting. It is an intriguing sort of puzzle.

The pink one is probably not large enough, yet. We shall see if the red and blue will work.

I have created a new friendship swap for my rug hooking group. It is a swap rug. Everyone wanted houses this time. It has two rows of houses, and trees, too. We each do a house on our own rug, and then, we pass it around for everyone to hook a house on our rug, When we are done, we will have a rug with our friends hooking on it. I have made 2 or 3 others and they are such a treasure. We have a goal to trade every two weeks.
I finished this house for Vivian.

Piecing franken backings can be both fun and frustrating. I'm trying to use up my older stash, so I see a lot of that in my future. How many more houses do you have left to hook friendship rug swap?
ReplyDeleteI like the house that you hooked. That snowball quilt is so pretty.
