stash report August 10, 2025

I bought a bolt of fabric from Missouri star because it was a deal. I was completely surprised when it arrived on the bolt and it was a joann fabric- Keepsake calico. Apparently, Missouri star bought during the liquidation. I did not see anything in the ad that is was from Joann or I probably wouldn't have bought it. But, it is still fabric. Who doesn't like new fabric?

fabric added year to date for 2025: 49 yards

74 x 86 = 24 yards

fabric used year to date for 2025: 210 1/2 yards

161 1/2 yards used more than bought in 2025

I sewed 3 days last week.

I have created a new friendship swap for my rug hooking group. It is a swap rug. Everyone wanted houses this time. It has two rows of houses, and trees, too. We each do a house on our own rug, and then, we pass it around for everyone to hook a house on our rug, When we are done, we will have a rug with our friends hooking on it. I have made 2 or 3 others and they are such a treasure. We have a goal to trade every two weeks.

Here is one rug that was up for swapping this week. Pam has decided to make a wool shop house for all of us.

  1. Fabric is fabric, though JoAnn fabric can be hit or miss sometimes on quality. The new houses are really cool. Happy stitching this week.

  2. I think many vendors scooped up Joann stock in addition to their licensed brand lines when they went out of business. I was at my MIL's in NC in the early days of the liquidation sales when the stores were still open. We went to her local Hobby Lobby which I had I'd been to before but never remembered their fabric stock being as varied or plentiful nor them having the variety styles of print that were being offered. There too the discounts were "can't pass it up" deep. Later I realized that they too probably had purchased fabric stock from Joann.

  3. Some Joann fabrics are really nice.I've used them often as that was the only fabric source available by me. Spiderweb is so very pretty. Congrats on the finish. Your house swap rug is wonderful.

  4. Your house project is cute! The swap sounds like a fun way to do it. I love your Spider Web quilt, too. Interesting about finding the Joann's fabric through Missouri Star.

  5. That brand switch was a surprise. Glad you like the print anyway.

  6. I recently bought a bolt from Marshalls also but it was 15 yards of their own fabric. I didn't notice any specials but sometimes I don't read the ads well. I'll have to keep my eye out on the sales for a while. The bolt I got will do the job but it isn't as nice as quilt shop quality. But I don't mind using it on most of the quilts I make.

  7. Great finish and the rug is super fun! I would have been annoyed about the fabric if the brand wasn't disclosed.
