Each month for the rainbow scrap challenge I am making 2 1/2 inch squares from 1 1/2 inch strips. My plan is to make a scrappy zig zag quilt.... someday. I hope to cut and sew at least 48 blocks after sewing. I use a color and neutral strips. I have the purple done, now. So far, I have not ironed them.
This month, I decided to work each week on my older purple ufo from 2013 called strip twist jelly roll surprise. I used a moda jelly roll and a background fabric. This week , I ironed the top , cut a border, and added it to the top. The colors are lovely. It is ready to quilt.

ReplyDeleteThat purple border is perfect for your strip twist design! It really pulls the purples out.
ReplyDeleteI try to work in my color of the month UFOs as well. Woohoo!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of combining your purple units with the units formed by all the previous 2025 RSC units. Very impressive to get back to your 2013 quilt. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteThe zig zag quilt sounds like a great L&E project! And your old UFO is awesome & it must feel great to have it ready for quilting.
ReplyDeleteI made a strip twist quilt using a mis-mash selection of strips. After seeing your quilt, next time I'll use just one fabric for half of the strips. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed
ReplyDeleteThat's a good way to use up your little bits
ReplyDeleteProgress on an old and a new project is a good week. Strip Twist Jelly Roll is really pretty. You've definitely been moving along many of your UFOs.
ReplyDeletePurple and green are my favorite fabric combination. Your little units are a great scrap-consumer.
ReplyDeleteIs there a specific pattern for that strip twist quilt? Yours is very pretty. I would like to make one too.
ReplyDeleteNice job on Strip Twist. Is it a GEDesigns pattern? Looks like something she might dream up! Anyway, yours is very pretty with the controlled background.
